Volantrid
Volantrids are the desert people of southern Sarra. They are tech-based, developing many interesting vehicles and machinery.
Volantrids have light brown/yellow skin, with dark brown stripes on their arms. They possess a pair of large feathered wings that aid them in flight. These extend just behind their arms on their back, and adults have a wingspan of 6-7 metres. Their legs are very thin, ending in a foot with 4 toes, two facing forwards, 2 facing backwards, each having a large black talon.
Culture
Common Dress code
Volantrids dress themselves in comfy robes made of woven silk from giant silkworms. These are decorated with bright colours and intricate patterns. The more detailed patterns, the more expensive the clothes.
Art & Architecture
Volantrids build large "nests" in the sky, floating on giant helipads. They use mainly steel, fortium, or reinforced concrete to build the skyscrapers they live in.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
A person is deemed beautiful based on their wings. The whitest, the purest, the softest wings are the most strived for, and are most popular.
While it is not technically beauty, popularity is also determined by intelligence. The most intelligent people are generally the most popular.
Relationship Ideals
Every volantrid is expected to have a soulmate. The soulmate can be platonic or romantic. It is common to date people before finding your soulmate, but it is inevitable you find them eventually. When you find them, avoid proposals until at least 2 years of dating, it is shameful to propose before your 2 year anniversary, as it is seen as rushing the relationship.
If you have found your soulmate, and are not faithful, this is seen as extremely rude. Expect to be attacked in public if you have not been faithful to your soulmate and has been revealed to the public. While maintaining friendships is strived for in volantrid culture, often if a friend found you to be unfaithful to your significant other they would out you to the public.
Major organizations
Volantrids exist in the south and east of Sarra. They have built many major cities, including but not limited to Galdasar. The undeniably advanced technology of Galdasar shows the abilites of volantrids, the entire city floats a few hundred feet above the air.
