Aberkypirate Tolu-Demer (Common Tinjongnian: ɑbeɾkjɪpiɾɑt toludɜmeɾ)

Tolu-Demer is a mountainous region in central Tinjongnia that is an autonomous Aberkypirate. It has a population of over one million people and is composed of the two historical regions of Tolu and Demer, with its capital being Demer City. The region's history goes back to the 1st century AY with the founding of the Cylunate of Demer by the Demerae Family. Its current Aberkypir is Euren II. Although the Kypirates of Tolu and Demer were reformed into a unified Aberkypirate in 1582, they had been unified since 1328.

History

History of Demer (98-1328)

The Demer Cylunate was founded circa 98 AY by Restren Demerae on a river in the mountains of center Tytheria. Over the centuries that followed, Demer and the Demerae family grew to have near total hegemony over the surrounding states. In 743, two years after the Sai Dero Vurro II, last member of the Felgir Dynasty, had died, the second son of Laclun Maeter II, Restren Demerae was elected as the new Sai Dero by a small council of nobles. Saiya will retain most of its autonomy while under the rule of the Demeraes. In 882, the bordering city of Akrinov was absorbed into Demer after Laclun Maeter IV conquered the city, he then established the Kypirate of Demer after having over a dozen cities sign the Demeran Pact, which united them into one domain to be led by the wealthy Demerae family. In 1037, Kypir Restren II elevated Dera Meya to Oveura after having assisted him in the defeat of Kypir Rota I of Tolu. In 1241, Saiya passed to the House of Tijone, and in 1328, Kypir Tulan I of Demer inherited the Kypirate of Tolu on the death of his mother, Kypra Reita. These events made Tulan Demerae the richest man in Tytheria at the time.

History of Tolu (237-1328)

The Tolu Cylunate was founded between two rivers in 237 AY by a man of Tytherian origin named Tol. Tol is also famous for his defense of Tolu from the Demerans in the Battle of "Tol's River" (Toluan: Toluzfeza) in 244. He established a selective monarchy, where the Cylun would choose their heir (in most cases). Every Cylun who ruled after Tol took the name Tol as their regnal name. The city prospered and grew in wealth, and in 423, Tol IX established the Toluan Derot and expanded Tolu's influence beyond the Tolu River. In 502, Sax (ruling as Tol XIII) is overthrown by his brother Xein, who takes the regnal name Tol XIV. With his newly acquired power, Xein expanded the Toluan realm through conquering Tino-Tytherian tribes, and defeated the Akrinovans at the recently founded city of Akrinov. In 512, 10 years after he overthrew his brother, Xein established the Toluan Kypirate (Old Toluan: Tolu'oe Kibra), beginning the Tinization of the Tytherian Toluans. Since Southern Tytherians did not have surnames, they specified who their father was with the Tytherian indicating word "ra" (of), and monarchs used "vuye Toloi" (of the Toluans) to denote their rank. Zeiu was last recognized Tytherian monarch of Tolu. In 746, Marad Uryeg, a Zuri gepyr, invaded Tolu and defeated Kypir Dixatu II, killing most of his family except for his younger sister Zeiu, who he will forcefully take as his wife. After his successful seizure of the Toluan throne, he established the Uryegian hereditary monarchy of Tolu, though not abiding by traditional Tin male only succession. By the 11th century, the Toluan Kypirate had more than quadrupled in size, threatening the Demeran Kypirate. For this period, it is often referred to as the Toluan Empire. In 1028, Demer, supported by their vassal Saiya and a few Sueban tribes, invaded Tolu and decisively defeated Kypir Rota I, and annexed almost half of the Kypirate into Saiya and Demer. Rota's failure to defend Tolu's territory tarnished the Uryeg monarchy's image, and 4 monarchs after Rota I, the Uryeg Dynasty lost its hold on Tolu on the death of Marad VI in 1103, after which, the title of Kypir of Tolu passed to his cousin, Beraf Avesh. The ruling dynasty changed again in 1207 to Sarasa, and was then finally inherited by the Demerae family in 1328.

History of Tolu-Demer (1328-)

During the late 1300s, Suebu invaded Demer and annexed several northern territories. In 1459, Saiya passed back to Tolu-Demer on the death of Oveura Delean Tijone. During the Toludemeran-Kinji War (1484-1490), Kypir Auktan I was famously killed in battle against the Kinji. The Toludemerans lost to the smaller Kinjin and gave up a third of Tolu's territory. In 1521, Vaintoreks Vicyli II of Tinjongnia and Kypir Impae III, who had married Vicyli II's cousin and his second cousin once-removed, Anea Tijone 30 years prior, formalized an alliance between Tinjongnia and Tolu-Demer. 1526, the Xivenyu attempted an invasion of Tinjongnia, and began the First Tinjongnian-Xivenyu War, Toludemeran forces assisted Tinjongnia and invaded the Kinji Derot, which began the Second Toludemeran-Kinji War. During the war, Dero Lej II was killed in battle with Toluan forces. The Second Toludemeran-Kinji War ends in 1528, with Kinjin occupied by Tolu-Demer and over 1,250 casualties on both sides. In 1567, the Toludemeran-Xivenyu War or the Second Tinjongnian-Xivenyu War began after Xivenya launched an invasion through Kinjin into Tolu, and captured Tolu City by the winter. Tinjongnia immediately invaded Xivenya, coming to the defense of Tolu-Demer. In 1582, the Aberkypirate of Tolu-Demer was established, and Kypir Auktan II became the first Aberkypir. In 1617, Tolu-Demer joined Tinjongnia in the Third Tinjongnian-Xivenyu War, and Toludemeran forces famously assisted Tinjongnian forces in the siege of Zivendeya in 1618. After the war, Toludemeran forces assisted in the occupation and administration in southwestern Xivenya. Toludemeran forces assisted Tinjongnian forces during the invasion of Sanjha in 1660, and in 1678, Tolu-Demer joined Tinjongnia as an autonomous region. In 1687, a Demeran noble, Aldera Estera began the Sai Independence War after his mother, Aberkypra Auktana III died and passed her title to her cousin, Eursa. Despite Aldera being a Demeran noble, the Sai people fought with him against the Toludemeran government, and they achieved independence in 1692, and eventually joined Tinjongnia as a separate autonomous region.
