Vaintum Hilouva (Common Tinjongnian: veɪntʌm hɪloʊvɑ)
General Summary
Hilouva is currently a country, region, and an Inherited Vaintum of Tinjongnia. It was established as a Vaintum in 1704 by Hilouvan Kypir Vata Antala, but its history goes back to founding of Hilou as a Laclunate (Great City). It would maintain independence until being inherited in 1768 by Vaintoreks Ziva and officially annexed into Tinjongnia in 1772, making it the first and only Vaintum to be inherited by a Vaintoreks after the founding of Tinjongnia.History
Great City of Hilou (747-1162)
Founding
Hilouva started out as the Laclunate of Hilou, formed in 747 from several settlements on the north coast of the Andaltian Peninsula. The first elected Laclun of Hilou was Anamalt Yerut. The Laclun served for life, supported by a council. In cases of war, the Laclunate can be annulled and the council would act as the sole controller of the state, until 1091. Any man or woman could serve as a councilor or the Laclun of Hilou. Though Lacluns were elected freely by a small council, they often were relatives or descendants of previous Lacluns.Hilouan-Ilejan War (908-912)
The Hilouan-Ilejan War saw 14 years of battling between the Laclunate of Hilou and the larger Ilejan Gyepirate (Chiefdom). Lc. Edrat Tujen sought to conquer the Ilejan lands east of Hilou, assigning his granddaughter, Mila Adal, as a general. Under her control, the Hilouans would win multiple decisive battles, making her a popular figure in the military and securing her election to Laclun in 911 after her grandfather's death. The war would end with the surrender of the Ilejan chief and the subjugation of Ilejans, boosting the Hilouans war support.Great Western War (1090-1149)
The six decade long war, commonly known as the Great Western War, saw grand campaigns between the Andaltian Vaintorum, Laclunate of Hilou, Vaintum of Zain, and Solovan Kypirate. Starting during the second year of Laclun Hanor's reign, it triggered the rise of the Laclun position from disposable to integral with the elevation of his title in 1092 from a figure head during war to an absolute dictator, after the council reluctantly gave up their power in order to centralize the power of the state so Hilou could properly coordinate and defend itself. The first few decades saw constant fighting between the Andaltians and the Hilouans with little advancement on either side. Hanor dies in 1111, requiring the election of another dictator: Anamalt Yerut III. During his rule, Hilou invaded and siezed territory from the weakened Solovan Kypirate, won the Battle of Lena, allowing Hilouan forces to cross the Lenios River to assist the Zaini in fighting the Andaltians, eventually winning the war. Hilou came out of the war with triple its territory, no strong enemies since the Andaltians had been humiliated to the point where a civil war began, and the dooming of the Solovan country which would collapse in the next century. The achievement of victory by Hilou with Anamalt III paved the way for a powerful head of government.Hilouan Derot (1162-1303)
Founding
After the campaigning by Laclun Imens III Sinep for the establishment of a monarchy and his death in 1162, Hilou held a referendum on whether the Laclunate should be reformed into a Derot (Countship), and the next elected head becoming the Dero of Hilou. Instead of the council electing the Dero, the people directly elected their new monarch, which would be the son of Imens III, Odor Sinep, a descendant of Laclun Odor Umal through Imens III. This election would also see the reform of the council into a directly elected legislature.Hilouan-Solovan War (1250-1261)
In 1250, the Hilouan Derot would go to war with the Solovan Kypirate one last time, with the current Dero, Listrav Sinep, seeking to destroy the Kypirate and integrate the Solovans into Hilou. The war lasts until 1261, with Dero Imens II steering Hilou towards after the death of his father, Listrav. Solova would cease to exist as an independent country and be absorbed into Hilou. Imens II would take the title of Kypir of Solovans and administer Solova as a degraded subject of Hilou.Hilouan Kypirate (1303-1704)
Hilouan Golden Age
In 1303, Ejol Sinep, the then Dero of Hilou, with support from the Kypir of Tolu, elevated his title from Dero of Hilou to Kypir of Hilou to make it equal to his Solovan title, establishing the Hilouan Kypirate. Kypir Milo attends the coronation of the most powerful and soon to be richest man in Tytheria, Kypir Tulan I of Tolu and Demer in 1328 and conquers the Zaini Vaintum in 1333. This was the start of the Hilouan Golden Age.Sueba-Hilouan War (1428-1433)
The Hilouan Golden Age would end in 1428, with the invasion of Hilou by the Kypirate of Suebu, a Tythero-Tin military powerhouse on the Central Tytherian Plain. Kypir Odor is unable to defend Hilou’s exposed eastern lands. He dies in 1432, leaving the Sueba victorious, and the Sinep political family functionally extinct, as all eligible close Sinep family members perished during or around the time of the war.Hilouan Succession Crisis, Abiden, and Hilouva (1432-1463)
After the functional extinction of the prestigious Sinep family, a power gap opens up and the Hilouan Succession Crisis begins. Ethnic groups once treated as second-rate rise up against the dysfunctional government in Hilou. A grueling ethnic civl war is fought and the Hilouans come back out in 1450 with a man with an unknown background named Abiden who consolidates power and establishes himself as the Kypir-Dictator (meaning his powers extend far beyond those tradition bestowed in the Kypir) of Hilou. Abiden had taken control of most of Hilou in 1448, “officially” renaming the country to Hilouva. His rule would begin 15 years of tyranny and oppression of minorities in the country as well as the forceful integration of the Oveurate of Nudren in 1455. He is assassinated in 1463, dying at the age of 73.First Kypra and the Antala Kypirs
After a proper transitional government was established, Tila Umal: a descendant of Laclun Imens II, was elected as the first Kypra of Hilouva in 1464. She oversaw the invasion of Aejha (1492), a sovereign island to the northeast of Hilou City. She died in 1513, leaving her son, Eriz Antala, to become Kypir of Hilouva. This introduced the Antala line of monarchs and ushered in an era of peace.Zaini Revolution and Southern War (1672-1700)
The peace in Hilouva under the Antala Kypirs would last until the outbreak of the Zaini Revolution in 1672, which also kicked off the greater Hilouvan Southern War (1672-1700). In the finale quarter of the 17th century, the Hilouvans would fight the grueling war against the Zaini revolutionaries and the dwindling Andaltian Empire with the help of Eran, successfully ending the Zaini Revolution in 1699 and destroying Andalta in 1700. Despite the length of the conflict and the slaughter of the Zaini people, it was considered successful. The Aberkypirate of Olosya would emerge from the remains of Andalta in 1701 and the Cylunate of Lena would opt to join Hilouva in 1702.The Vaintum of Hilouva (1704-1768)
In 1704, Kypir Vata Antala declares the establishment of the Hilouvan Vaintum. Hilouva would absorb the rest of the southwestern Tytherian countries in the decades to come such as Eran (1732) and Olosya (1755). The Hilouvan Vaintum would have only 3 sovereign monarchs however, since in 1724, Ohmait Enae of Hilouva married Vaintoreks Eric Vulep TIjone and in 1728, Andalafynks Ziva Ena Tijone would be born and become the heir to both Hilouva and Tinjongnia. Enae would rule until her death in 1768.Integration into Tinjongnia (1772-)
Ziva would inherit the title of Hilouvan Vaint on his mother's death and integrate the country in Tinjongnia in 1772. Ziva would frequently visit his distant Vaintum several more times before he died because he loved his mother’s country. After Hilouva was integrated into Tinjongnia, it would become a popular tourist spot for those from the east coast seeking beautiful and calmer beaches, and would be a common vacation spot for members of the imperial family. Hilou in modern day is sometimes considered to be Tinjongnia’s second capital because of its status and population.Territories
Modern day Hilouva is divided into seven regions: Ziniya, Eran, Andalta, Treviya, Hilou, Leniya, and Soloviya. Hilou is the most populous region, with almost one million people living there and about 800,000 of those people living in the city of Hilou. Soloviya is the largest region, but the population is only around 200,000.
