Spell Engine

Spell Engines are mystical principles imbued into a location, substance, or object. It allows these devices to create mystical effects without the initiator necessarily having mystical ability or knowledge themselves (however some Engines do require one or both).
The discovery of Spell Engines had the equivalent impact of discovering electricity and computers for our world.

Utility

Spell engines are typically used by utterance of specific words and/or specific actions. A Fireball Wand, for example, is activated by flicking the wand using one's wrist ending in a pointing action at the desired target.

Manufacturing

Spell engines uses a mystical bonding technique called aural imprinting where the efficacy layer of an incomplete spell is made semi-substantive and then bound to its desired target. The SCU has found ways to create devices (Mystic Master Keys ) which are capable of performing this technique.

Access & Availability

Spell engines are ubiquitous, but the SCU holds patent over sophisticated techniques, especially Aether Tech

Complexity

Spell Engines are only moderately complex. Many devices are mass produced at the component level, one only needs understand the basics of alchemical engineering principles to utilize spell engines with any efficacy.

Discovery

Spell engines are an outgrowth of early alchemy and enchantment processes. As the nature of mystical energies were more thoroughly understood, this knowledge provided the foundation for spell engine technique research and development.
