Akemu

An ancient tribe of Oni that are said to be the spawn of ancient unions between the Hum'Bakya. The tribe is known as the monstrous Crimson Warriors of the east, and though they have slipped into mythology they were feared as the most powerful monsters of Celestia. Supposedly slaughtered to the last member by an elite unit of Samurai to cut them down in response to the formation of the new moon in 92 AR.   As the Demigod Seiken was viewed to hold such abnormal power to even defeat two gods avatars, the tribe was considered too great a threat and their home island was purged to the best of the Celestial military's power. Despite this, the harsh landscape of the Akemu's land and their own individual power and mobility made it unlikely that it truly ended the race entirely.   Due to their island being a place of constant wild magic and Hellstorm's, the environment is hostile, wild and impossible to track. Pushing even the rapid regeneration of the Akemu to its limit often enough. The plant life tries to drain you of blood and cut your flesh, the air is toxic, the trees are blackened and semi-sapient wishing to drag you beneath the earth. Any living creatures are monstrous, corrupted beings that would render any but the most powerful quivering.   This is a testimate to the tribe's might and survivability. They are survivors, cannibalistic, and a people brought up in an environment of kill or be killed with little credence or care toward the world around them. A brutal, warlike culture of nomadic tribes upon an island that is compared to hell on earth. This is also why the Akemu are feared should they reach adulthood, as by their innate power to gain the powers of all they consume, they have spent years eating corrupted, supernatural monstrosities as well as their own peers to survive. The end result is a highly-evolved being of multiple, inhuman powers and magic.   The name has been used within a branch of the city-state Dra'Kun due to impact that they've had on Drakonian culture. But this is purely using their namesake, and beyond this has no actual connection to the Oni Tribe.

Akemu Traits

  • High-speed regenerative abilities, regrowing lost limbs in less than a minute.
  • Abnormally muscular and broad builds for Ogre-bloods.
  • Olive to darker complexions, unnatural hair and eyes in hues of red.
  • Ability to acquire weakened variations of racial abilities, Unique Talents, knowledge, or other abilities from those that they eat.
  • Innate magic resistance and physical durability allowing them to shrug off damage similar to giant-kin.
  • Innate talent for fire and heat, capable of awakening the pitch-black flames known as "Hellfire" naturally with age. High resistance to heat as well, children capable of swimming in lava.
  • Small chance of their Hum'Bakya blood awakening the ability to enter a demi-awakened state, turning their skin crimson, hair black, and causing horns to sprout. This is the source of the fearful myth of the "red-skinned Oni" for their immense power in this state.
