Crossed Wands Inn

Description

Exterior

The inn is a two story wooden building made of dark wood from the local forest with the trim being painted a pleasant dark green that helps it stand out. Above the main entrance is a wooden sign that depicts two wands that are crossed in an X formation with one being green and the other being grey, and underneath them it says The Crossed Wands Inn in a fancy font.

Interior

First Floor

When first entering the inn, you are immediately greeted with the sound of music and the smell of ale and hot food. The main entrance gives way to a large tavern area with a bar directly across from the entrance.
The tavern itself is very simple in design and lacks décor but has a rustic charm, especially when Asunis the Tiefling Bard is playing her violin and singing her ballads.   A fireplace that sits at the right side of the inn further adds to the charm and provides a nice place to warm up during winter.   A brief staircase to the right, towards the far back of the tavern leads to the second floor where most of the rooms are. There is a small hallway behind the stairs that leads to the rooms on the first floor as well as Raldurth's office.   Underneath the stairs is another small set of stairs that lead into the cellar where all the wine, ale, and food is stored.

Second Floor

The second floor includes the majority of the rooms along with a washroom. Each room door features a room number engraved into the door itself with the inside painted the same dark green that covers the trim of various parts of the building.
Ballad of the Deathbloom Forest
Where once the birds sang with delight,
Where children played in the morn,
An evil fiend had cast its blight,
Leaving the forest broken and torn.
Those with courage and steel fought back,
With hope and vengeance in their eyes,
Making their way through the constant attacks,
Yet each of them went to surely die.
— Local folk ballad

Cellar

The cellar is a large room made of stone bricks lit by torches that are placed along each of the four walls and on three of the pillars in the middle of the room.   The room features eight support pillars in the middle of the room with arches that connect each to one another. Barrels of ale surround the inner pillars, fitting snuggly under the arches while still making room in the middle for one to peruse each barrel.   Within the eastern and western walls are barrels filled with various wines. Along the northern wall are bottles of ale.   In the south west corner of the room is a small table surrounded by 4 chairs with a deck of cards on the top. Various boxes and crates fill in the rest of the open space in the room with no real organization method.

Employees

Raldurth Darnun is the proprietor of the inn. He is usually seen running the main tavern area and arranging for lodging for those who wish to spend the night.   Belza Bottomhopper (Halfling) is the one and only barmaid of the establishment. She is usually seen hastily handing out food and drink to patrons all while giggling gossip into their ears.

Clientele

Most of the patrons seen in the inn wore either destitute or just plain simple clothing, or a variety of armour underneath warm winter cloaks. Patrons usually seen here seem like local farmhands with nowhere else to go or traveling adventurers that decided to lodge here for the night.
  • Asunis the Bard tends to wear a shirt with billowing sleaves underneath a leather corset, simple jewelry adorning her horns, slacks, and long leather boots when performing. Not quite fitting the mold of either type of the usual clientele.
  • Other frequent patrons of the inn include:
  • Duli Broadblade (Dwarf), a local farmer who takes up residence within the inn. Usually seen in the evening times after work and on weekends. He wears simple farming clothes (including the stereotypical straw hat), and always carries around a pouch of veggies.
  • Vinfer Softrabbbit (Halfling), a traveling merchant who sells fine cloth and fabrics. He wears colourful robes and a bright red fez. Most of his wares are actually fairly good quality but he likes to embellish a bit and say they're worth slightly more than they actually are.

Raldurth Darnun, a Human born in Signe.   Usually very tired but jovial nontheless. Will always try to help customers with any troubles they may be having, within reason. Loves meeting new people.   Upset at the recent strange occurances that have been happening but remains hopeful that they'll be stopped soon.
