Gilbert Hargrave X

Gilbert is the successor to his father, Gilbert Hargrave IX, inheriting the title of Duke just over fifteen years ago.
He grew up idolizing the men he read about in books. George the Dragon Slayer, Michael the Devil's Bane, Orthis of Lotencam, all those men that - whether myth or history - captured the imagination of the young boy. As he grew, he saw fit to fashion himself in the manner of the heroes of old. He asked his father to have armor made for him and, while all the other noble children took fencing, he wanted to learn to fight with a sword and shield. This was seen as odd by, not only his father, but also the other nobles. He was seen as trying to regress the name of the Steadfast House Hargrave, but, at the behest of his son, Gilbert IX relented, commissioning the creation of a full suit of armor, sword, and shield. He then hired a former Astozian Knight to train Gilbert X.
Over the next decade or so, Gilbert X's love of the old days only deepened. He used the allowance he received from his father to purchase artifacts from the early Age of Kings, and hired multiple adventuring guilds to track down items from even earlier. In time, he came to the decision that he wished to actually return Genova to the way it was before they were vassalized. This naturally raised some eyebrows, and there were even rumors circling about what he might mean. Was it treason? In truth, he was being more idealistic than zealous, simply wishing to create a culture rather than a free state.
In the end, he succeeded, taking over the family following the death of his father and remaking them as they once were. He had his family's heraldic armor brought out of storage, and began to wear it in tandem with his noble regalia. He had his family's guards outfitted with breastplates and longswords instead of sabers. He even went as far as rejecting the implementation of Firelock Cannons into his personal armaments. This has gotten him marked as a bit of an eccentric, but has actually helped him find friends in Enoch and Morgan, as the two are equally as odd.
Though very fixated on the ways of the past, his rule has been good, bringing prosperity to the land and comfort to the people.
