The Founding of the Grand College

The Grand College is also one of the oldest remaining settlements along the coast of Wyrring, with it being settled prior to Estalia. The exact details of the founding is shrouded in mystery, however, there are several stories surrounding it.

"Did anyone ever tell you why the college was built where it was? You see, it was built here because of the ocean breeze. That breeze starts out far beyond the horizon, travels along the surface of The Brightwater, and then collects against the side of The Great Divide. That wind swirls around and collects exactly where we're currently standing; here at the heart of the college.
You see, while that wind travels, it picks up things, Stories, whispers, secrets and the salt spray. It gathers along the Summer Shores, to the offshore islands, to Berak Hakar and further beyond; it collects energy. It collects magic. And that magic is funnelled into this land and allows us to... Reenergize ourselves. It becomes a well of energy that all people in the Summer Shores can tap into - whether they realize it or not. It is that magic that underlies all of the research we do here.
And that is why the college was founded here. Or at least that's what I was always told. Perhaps my predecessor just enjoyed the feel of the ocean wind."
