The Fall of Ostrangard

There are many stories and theories about the fall of Ostrangard, turning the thriving kingdom to a desolate, dangerous land.
As the stories usually go, Rustik Moldov, king of Ostrangard, was a great and wise ruler. Under his reign, the kingdom thrived, allowing him to amass a great wealth. However, with the founding of Estalia and Aedan, Rustik became nervous of keeping his position, and sought additional power to keep it.
He prayed to his god (either Solannis or Thalor for the Aedian and Estalian versions, respectively), who told him that he did not need any more power, as he already had enough. Not happy with this answer, Rustik turned to darker magic, sacrificing his only son to them.
The ritual completed opened the door for dark spirits to enter this realm, which, in turn, drove the king mad and wrecked havoc on the kingdom. Over the next decade, the wilds of Ostrangard became more and more dangerous, and the control from the crown deteriorated. This period was full of people fleeing the kingdom, or else they face attacks from monsters in their homes.
The story is told throughout Aedan and Estalia, as a warning to not betray the gods.
