The Council of Lords

The 21 most influential of the dwarven houses have the head of their household sit in the Council of Lords. The council serves to provide consul to the Jarl regarding the running of the city. The most influential clans and their respective (major) trades is as follows:   Smithing Clan Flintborn (weaponsmiths) Clan Broadbender (weaponsmiths) Clan Bluntheart (armoursmiths) Clan Drakehead (smelters) Clan Longhand (toolmakers)   Mercantile Clan Kragbender (metalworks and jewels) Clan Deepfoot (metalworks and jewels) Clan Pebblebrow (food) Clan Bronzebrow (brewers) Clan Hillhorn (brewers)   Mining Clan Bitterbringer (coal miners) Clan Barrelpike (stone miners) Clan Underbrewer (precious gems) Clan Copperfeet (salt miners)   Other Clan Ironcloak (clothing manufacturers) Clan Bonebeard (construction) Clan Woldgranite (breeders) Clan Ironfinger (scouts and prospectors) Clan Grimminer (stonemasons) Clan Nobleforge (farming) Clan Harddigger (jewelers)   For the most part, the relations between the Clans are respectful, as none of them wish to harm their own industrial interests by conflicting with different parts of the supply chain. Some of the clans practice a friendly rivalry between them (ex. Clan Flintborn and Clan Broadbender), while some of them marry their sons and daughters between them to improve their relationships (ex. Clan Barrelpike and Clan Grimminer).   Additionally, the Clans serve as a secondary policing force to the Ironbreakers, acting so to maintain the law and order surrounding their businesses. The heads of each of the Clans (Major and Minor) have the ability to dole out punishments to members of their own clan should they break the law, with more extreme punishments including Chain-Breaking, where the violating member is stripped of their last name, to exile from the city.
