Bird-of-Prey

When traversing The Barrens at night, one must always keep an eye on the skies out of fear of these large-winged monsters. With wingspans of approximately 30 feet, Birds-of-Prey are vicious carnivores, who are known to swoop down onto unsuspecting caravans. Typically roosting in the Devil's Teeth Range, they take off around dusk, taking advantage of the westerly gales. Through the night, they glide over the open plains, using their keen night vision to search for any prey that they can carry off with. They typically don't carry their prey very far away, unless they are bringing them back to the Devil's Teeth Range for their young. By dawn, they have typically arrived at the edge of The Great Divide, and are known to circle and "dance" in the morning updraft. During the day, they make the return trip back to the mountains, as they possess the remarkable ability to sleep while flying. This is where they have most of their rest, only staying on the ground for a short period of time during the late afternoon.
