Waham

The barbarians of Waham have settled their town on the border between the Westlands and the Lightpoint Lands considered to fall just on the side of the Lightpoint side of the line. Fiercely independent, savage in nature, but with a love of poetry and song, the denizens of Waham call themselves barbarians, but hey are more like warrior-poets, prone to engage a tribe of goblins and then write an epic tale of their skirmish to be read to a eager revelers.

The Chieftess of the Barbarians

The self-described barbarians of Waham are led by a Chieftess selected from amongst their own. The positionis a lifetime appointment, though it entails little more than leading the town's famous warriors, the Guerilla Barbarians, on excursions to raid nearby humanoids and eradicate monsters wherever they appear.

The Guerilla Barbarians

Any traveler who has ever walked the Ancient Lightpoint Road has tales to tell of Waham, and of the Guerilla Barbarians that define the town. Warriors from Waham organize themselves into small bands, typically only one to two dozen in size. These bands spread out among the plains of the Waham lands, fighting monsters, raiding treasure, and always returning with a song to sing or a tale to tell.   Their stories are as unreliable as they are entertaining. Spoken word competitions are regularly held in the taverns of Waham, in which warriors try to outdo each other with evermore outlandish tales of their glorious barbarian escapades. These competitions are referred to locally as, "chest beating," and they have a tendency to last into the wee hours of the morning, until the flow of mead and ale has withered the audience away.

Halls of Waddle-and-Daub

Waddle-and-daub huts extend in all directions as far as the eye can see when standing at the center of town, with their largest buildings extending hundreds of feet. No building is taller than two stories, and the whole town resembles a military encampment more than a town, yet, along the erratically placed dirt roads of the town, much trade and commerce is done. Few armorers are found, since the Guerilla Barbarians prefer to move and strike quickly. Weaponcraft is unrivaled in the town, and the steel created by the blacksmiths is among the finest in all of Volkyr.
