Neithir (nejtir)

The Neithir are whispers of the forest, fierce and graceful, born of the wild's untamed heart. They are a race bound not by the trappings of civilization, but by the ancient rhythm of nature itself. With senses sharper than the finest blade and movements like shadows dancing through the trees, they embody the spirit of the untamed. Their glowing eyes, rare and radiant, are the light of Archana —an ethereal magic that flows through the roots of the earth and the veins of the Neithir alike. To see them is to glimpse the harmony of predator and protector, where tradition and wisdom shape lives as deeply rooted as the ancient oaks they call home. They are not mere inhabitants of the forest but its essence made flesh, the guardians of a world where magic and nature breathe as one.
“They came from the shadows, taller than any man, their movements a blur—predators born of the forest itself. My men never saw them coming. One moment, there was silence, and the next, they were upon us, striking like spirits with claws, fangs, and a grace no beast could match. Their eyes glowed like embers in the dark, and it felt as though the forest itself was alive, moving with them, fighting against us. We stood no chance... They aren’t just hunters; they’re something else entirely. Something the forest made to protect itself. We were trespassers, and it made us pay.”
— From records of Dwendol forest expedition.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The form of the Neithir is a marvel of nature’s design, wrought for swiftness, strength, and the pursuit of prey within the shadowed groves of their woodland realms. Their stature towers over most men, ranging from 190 to 220 spans in height, with lean and sinewy frames that belie great power. Their limbs, both upper and lower, are long and well-fashioned for agility, granting them the means to climb trees with ease and to traverse the forest floor in leaps and bounds. Their hands and feet bear claws short but sharp and unyielding, tools both for the hunt and for defense. The spine, supple and resilient, permits motions most fluid, as though they were born of the wind itself. Upon their heads, their ears rise to fine points, keen to catch the faintest rustle of leaf or tread of foot, while their jaws house fangs of striking prominence, weapons gifted by nature herself. Verily, their very frame speaks of a kinship with the wild, as if they were shaped by the forest’s will to defend its sanctity.

Biological Traits

Bone structure
The Neithir have a light but strong bone structure, designed for agility and endurance while maintaining the strength necessary for their physical prowess. Their bones are dense and resilient, allowing them to climb, jump, and run with remarkable speed and efficiency, but they are not overly heavy.
The average weight of an adult Neithir typically ranges from 70 kg to 95 kg. This lighter build, coupled with their muscular density, enables them to move with speed and grace, making them exceptional hunters and climbers. Despite their height, their lean and powerful frame supports their need for both strength and agility, while their bone structure contributes to their overall endurance.
The fangs
The Neithir also possess sharp teeth (two prominent fangs similar to vampires) and claws on their hands and feet, which they use for hunting, climbing, and self-defense. These traits are more pronounced in males, who often rely on them during physical confrontations or in the pursuit of prey.
Body Temperature
Neithir have a higher body temperature than most humanoid species, typically around 40°C. This allows them to remain active in cooler temperatures, making them well-suited for life in the dense, shaded forests where the temperature can fluctuate. Their body temperature helps them stay warm in the colder nights and seasons, further reinforcing their connection to the natural cycles around them.
Glowing eyes
One of the most notable biological traits of the Neithirs is their glowing eyes, which are a mark of a strong connection to nature and Archana. The intensity of the glow varies based on their age, health, and magical affinity. The more connected they are to the forest or their environment, the brighter their eyes glow, a feature that is highly respected within their society. These glowing eyes are particularly common among the elders and spiritually attuned individuals, who have spent many years cultivating their bond with the land.

Genetics and Reproduction

The reproductive process of the Neithir is much like that of Thalarians, but with notable differences shaped by their connection to nature. Mating occurs during specific times of the year when the forces of archana are strongest, typically in the spring or early summer. These seasons mark periods of renewal and growth, aligning with the natural cycles of the forest. During these times, female Neithir become fertile, and mating is a rare but sacred event, ensuring that their offspring are born at the most favorable moments for survival.
Once mating occurs, the female Neithir carries the young for a gestation period of approximately 11 months, a little longer than human gestation. This extended period of development allows the young to grow not only physically but also spiritually, drawing on the natural energies of the world around them. The presence of archana during gestation strengthens the bond between the child and nature, preparing them for their future role as guardians and hunters. Due to their connection to the land, the process is slower and more deliberate, reflecting the Neithir's deep relationship with the earth.
Fertility among the Neithir is much lower than in other species, a trait that ensures their population remains small and in harmony with the environment. Female Neithir typically give birth only once every several years, and this low reproductive rate means that their clans are small, usually numbering between 10 and 20 individuals. This scarcity of births adds to the reverence with which each new life is treated within their society, where each offspring is considered a rare and vital gift.
Upon birth, the Neithir young are nurtured by the entire clan, with the mother playing a central role in their care. The infants grow rapidly, both in strength and in their connection to the natural world. By the age of five, the young Neithir are already learning to navigate their environment, climbing trees and beginning to sense the flow of archana around them. They are considered fully mature by the age of 25, at which point they are trained as hunters and begin their role as protectors of the forest.
Thus, the Neithir’s reproductive cycle is deeply entwined with the rhythms of nature, ensuring that their numbers remain carefully balanced, their connection to the land maintained, and their society stays aligned with the forces that govern the world around them.

Growth Rate & Stages

Infancy (0-5 years) Upon birth, the young Neithir are highly dependent on their mother and clan for care. During the first few years of life, they are nourished both physically and spiritually. The young are taught to attune themselves to the forest’s rhythm, learning the scents, sounds, and movements of their surroundings. This stage is one of rapid physical growth, as their muscles, senses, and basic instincts develop. By the age of 5, they begin to show the first signs of their future capabilities, such as climbing trees, running swiftly, and sensing the subtle flows of archana.
Adolescence (6-25 years) As they move into adolescence, the Neithir continue to grow in both strength and wisdom. This stage is characterized by further physical development, where they become faster, more agile, and their connection to nature deepens. It is during these years that they begin their training as hunters and learn the ways of the clan. Mentally, they start to comprehend the ways of archana, and some may even begin to show an innate ability to sense and manipulate natural magic. By the age of 12, the Neithir are considered capable hunters, and they begin to take on more responsibilities within their clan.
Adulthood (25-150 years)The Neithir reach full physical maturity by around the age of 25, but their journey of growth continues throughout their adult years. Their connection to archana deepens, and their magical abilities evolve as they age. During this stage, they enter their prime, where they are at their most physically powerful and spiritually attuned. The vast majority of Neithir live through this period of relative stability, contributing to their clan as hunters, protectors, and spiritual leaders. Their fertility decreases with age, and by around 100 years, most females have entered a stage where reproduction is no longer a primary focus.
Elderhood (150-250 years)As the Neithir age, they enter a stage of wisdom and greater connection to the land. Their physical abilities, while still formidable, begin to decline, and they rely more on their spiritual and magical powers to guide the clan. It is during this time that they may become revered elders within their communities, respected for their deep knowledge of archana and their years of experience in the wild. Their eyes often glow brighter during this period, a sign of their profound connection to the forces of nature. They begin to take on roles as spiritual leaders, guiding younger generations with their wisdom and magical prowess.
Ancient Age (250-300 years) The final stage of a Neithir’s life is marked by deep wisdom and a near-complete union with the natural world. Physically, their body begins to slow significantly, but they are still capable of extraordinary feats, though they are rare. Their connection to archana and the natural forces around them is at its peak, and they are often regarded as living embodiments of the forest itself. These Neithir are the ancient protectors, their knowledge of the forest’s magic vast and unmatched. They are seen as living relics, offering guidance to the younger generations until their eventual passing.

Throughout their lifespan, the Neithir undergo significant transformations not just in physical form but in spiritual depth. Each stage represents a new understanding of their place in the world, as they grow into their roles as guardians of the forest, wielders of archana, and keepers of ancient wisdom. Their long lives and slow aging process ensure that their society remains rich in tradition, and their bond with nature only strengthens with time.

Ecology and Habitats

The Neithir are intrinsically linked to their environment, and their ideal habitat reflects their deep connection to nature and their reliance on the elements of the land. While their primary home lies in the dense, towering forests—particularly the ancient Dwendol forest—they exhibit adaptability to a range of environments, with subcultures thriving in cave systems and darker, more secluded places.
Primary Habitat: Deep Forests (Especially Dwendol Forest)
The Dwendol Forest—a vast, ancient woodland in Effelos with towering trees and a dense canopy—is the Neithir's most sacred and favored environment. Here, they feel most at home, where the Archana flows strongest and nature is abundant, especialy in northern part of this place - Etherwood. The towering trees provide shelter and resources, and the Neithir build their habitats high in the treetops, utilizing their climbing abilities to craft intricate dwellings within the branches. The creeper plants that weave their way through the forest are particularly valuable to the Neithir, serving both as natural building materials and as pathways for climbing and movement. These vines and plants are used to construct bridges, platforms, and homes that blend seamlessly into the environment, ensuring that their presence remains unnoticed by outsiders.
The Neithir thrive in the balance of sunlight filtering through the canopy, the murmur of the wind through the leaves, and the perpetual cycle of life in the forest. Their connection to nature is most pronounced here, with their ability to sense the subtle changes in the environment and attune themselves to the magic of archana. They form deep bonds with the flora and fauna around them, using their keen senses and magical abilities to commune with the forest, ensuring that the land remains in harmony with their presence.
Their deep knowledge of the forest ecosystem allows them to live symbiotically, hunting only what is necessary for survival and ensuring that the balance of life is maintained. The Neithir do not take more from the land than it can give, and in return, the forest provides them with shelter, sustenance, and magical energy.

Secondary Habitat: Caves and Darker Environments
Xhulldarien couple of Neithirs
While the deep forests are the Neithir’s primary home, certain subcultures have adapted to living in caves and much darker environments. These groups-Xhulldariens, are often found in more remote or underground areas, where sunlight does not reach and the world is dominated by shadows. These are most comon in northern area of Syndaras, in the lands of Xhulldar. In these habitats, the Neithir have developed a different way of life, using their heightened senses of hearing and smell to navigate and thrive in complete darkness.
In cave systems, the Neithir build their homes in natural caverns and tunnels, using their knowledge of the land to create secure, hidden dwellings. These environments offer a different kind of protection—isolating the Neithir from outside threats and allowing them to live in secrecy. The lack of light does not hinder them, as their vision is adapted to seeing in near-total darkness.
These cave-dwelling Neithir have developed unique cultural practices, relying heavily on their psionic and empathic abilities to communicate and interact with their surroundings, as the need for visual cues is minimized. They are deeply attuned to the underground currents of archana and have a more spiritual relationship with the earth, often using stone, minerals, and subterranean flora to harness their magic.

Neithir's Interaction with Their Habitat
The Neithir’s interaction with their habitat is one of mutual respect and deep symbiosis. In the forests, they do not dominate nature, but rather live within it, blending into the surroundings as if they were an extension of the land itself. They have a profound understanding of the balance between life and death in the natural world and act as protectors of that equilibrium. The forests and caves serve not only as their homes but as the source of their spiritual and magical strength. In the deep forests, the Neithir’s use of creeper plants is an example of how they harness the land's natural resources with minimal impact. These plants are used to craft homes, but they also provide pathways for hunting and movement, enabling the Neithir to live within the canopy and traverse the treetops with ease. The vines and plants serve as extensions of their bodies, allowing them to move fluidly and silently through the forest.
Xhulldarien Neithir clan
In darker environments like caves, the Neithir's bond with the earth is even more pronounced. They are able to feel the subtle shifts in the earth and are attuned to the vibrations of their surroundings. This heightened sensitivity to the land allows them to navigate the underground world with ease, relying on their enhanced hearing and smell to compensate for the lack of light. The underground environments foster a more introspective and spiritual lifestyle, where the Neithir are able to commune with the earth on a deeper, more mystical level.
In all environments, the Neithir act as stewards of the land, ensuring that they leave little trace of their presence and maintain the delicate balance of nature. Whether in the bright canopy of the forest or the deep, shadowed caverns below, the Neithir are more than inhabitants—they are an integral part of the ecosystems they call home, living in harmony with the world around them.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Neithirs primarily subsist on the abundant vegetation found within their forest habitats, with a diet rich in fruits, roots, nuts, and leaves that they harvest with great care. They have an intimate knowledge of the plants around them, able to distinguish between those that are nourishing and those that could be harmful. Their ability to forage is heightened by their sharp senses, particularly their sense of smell, which helps them identify the ripest fruits or the most nutrient-dense plants. Despite their reliance on vegetation, the Neithirs are also feral hunters, capable of stalking and ambushing small to medium-sized animals with remarkable speed and precision. Their sharp claws, powerful legs, and enhanced agility make them formidable predators, able to chase down prey or climb trees to capture animals that attempt to escape. Once they hunt, the Neithirs do not waste; they consume what is necessary for sustenance, and any surplus is carefully stored in hidden caches or consumed immediately to avoid attracting attention. They also respect the balance of nature, taking only what they need and leaving the rest of the forest's creatures to thrive. Their foraging and hunting techniques ensure that their food sources are well-protected, and they take great care in safeguarding their territory to maintain access to these vital resources.

Behaviour

Dwendolien clan
The Neithir are highly territorial, with each clan fiercely protecting its domain. Their bonds within the clan are strong, and they work together to hunt and defend their territory. Despite this territorial nature, alliances between clans are common and vital for maintaining genetic diversity and ensuring the overall health of the species. These alliances often involve inter-clan mating and mutual support during times of need.
When facing predators, the Neithir are swift and evasive, using their agility and enhanced senses to detect and avoid danger. If confrontation is necessary, they will fiercely defend themselves with claws, teeth, and strength.
In terms of prey, the Neithirs are respectful hunters. They use stealth and patience to stalk their quarry, only taking what is needed for sustenance and maintaining a balance within the ecosystem. They view hunting as both a necessity and a spiritual act, honoring the life they take.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Small Clans
These clans, typically consisting of 10 to 20 members, are found in the deepest parts of the forests. They live in seclusion, closely connected to nature, and maintain a simpler way of life. These clans are highly territorial, living in harmony with the surrounding wilderness and relying on their intimate knowledge of the forest for survival. Leadership is often vested in elders or individuals with a strong spiritual connection to nature, and roles within the clan are flexible, based on individual skills. Magic and hunting are central to their daily lives, with each clan member having a deep understanding of the natural world.
Larger Cities
These more developed Neithir societies are located at the edges of forests, often near rivers where access to water and fertile land supports larger populations. These cities are more organized and complex compared to the small clans, with a larger population and advanced structures made from natural materials like wood and stone. The social hierarchy is more structured, and there is often a division of labor between craftsmen, warriors, scholars, and spiritual leaders. While they still maintain a strong connection to nature, they are more open to interaction with other races and are capable of trade, diplomacy, and technological development. Leadership is often centralized, with a ruling council or Chieftain overseeing the city's affairs, though elders still hold significant sway in spiritual matters.

Facial characteristics

The Neithir possess sharp, feral-looking facial features that reflect their wild, hunter nature. Their eyes are large and often glow when deeply connected to nature, giving them an intense, piercing gaze. Their noses are slightly elongated, keenly adapted for heightened sense of smell. They have pointed, sharp ears, further emphasizing their animal-like appearance. Their cheeks are angular, with high bone structure, adding to their fierce, predatory look. The mouth is defined by sharp, fang-like teeth, which they use for both hunting and self-defense. Overall, their face conveys a sense of strength, agility, and a deep connection to the wild, marked by ferocity and grace.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Neithirs are believed to have been born in the ancient and mystical land of Effelos, a region rich in natural resources and powerful archana energy. This land, which is the spiritual and ancestral heart of the Neithir people, is thought to be where their connection to nature and archana was first established. The deep connection to Effelos runs through their very being, and their strongest and most revered clans are still found in this region.
The Dwendol forest and its northern part Etherwood are two regions within Effelos that have the highest concentration of Neithir. These forests are massive, ancient woodlands teeming with towering trees, creeping vines, and a vibrant ecosystem that sustains the Neithir’s spiritual and physical needs. The Dwendol Forest, in particular, is considered sacred ground for the Neithir, offering an abundance of resources for hunting, gathering, and living in harmony with nature. The deep connection to archana is strongest here, with the forest itself almost alive with magical energy. The Etherwood, while smaller, is equally cherished for its dense canopy and diverse flora and fauna, making it another key area for Neithir habitation.
Dellnor, though not as vast as Dwendol or Etherwood, features dense forests that are still suitable for Neithir clans to thrive. The environment here offers shelter and resources sufficient for smaller groups of Neithir, who are able to maintain their territorial lifestyle within these compact forests. The ecosystem in Dellnor supports the Neithir's needs, though the clans here are generally more secretive and reclusive due to the smaller, more confined space.
Finally, the Xhulldar region, known for its extensive cave systems and underground tunnels, is the ideal habitat for the subrace of Neithir who have adapted to darker, subterranean environments. These Neithir are more attuned to the earth and stone, and the caves of Xhulldar provide a perfect balance of shelter, safety, and connection to the deeper energies of the land. The subterranean habitats here are often hidden, making these Neithir more isolated and mysterious compared to their forest-dwelling kin.
In general, the western part of the continent Syndaras is almost entirely dominated by the Neithir species. This region, rich in dense forests, towering trees, and fertile land, offers the perfect environment for the Neithir to thrive. The vast expanses of forests, such as the Dwendol Forest and Etherwood, form the heart of Neithir civilization and culture, where their deep connection to nature and archana flourishes. The western portion of Syndaras is largely untamed and largely untouched by outside influence, with the Neithir clans maintaining strong territorial control. The land is scattered with smaller, dense forests like Dellnor, which, although more compact, are still ideal habitats for smaller Neithir groups. The region's natural resources, combined with the Neithir’s spiritual bond to the land, make it an area where their presence is overwhelming and pervasive.
Beyond the forests, the Xhulldar cave systems in the western mountains provide another crucial aspect of Neithir life, particularly for the subgroups that have adapted to darker, subterranean environments. This distribution further cements the western portion of Syndaras as the epicenter of Neithir influence, where their way of life and ancient traditions remain steadfast and dominant. The western Syndaras serves as a cultural and spiritual stronghold for the Neithir, with their presence woven into every corner of the landscape.

Average Intelligence

Female scout on watch
The average intelligence of the Neithir is rooted in practical wisdom and a deep connection to nature. They excel in survival skills, such as hunting, foraging, and understanding their environment, using their sharp senses and instincts. Their intelligence is more intuitive and strategic, focused on living in harmony with the land rather than technological advancement. They value tradition and respect the wisdom of elders, who guide their clans with knowledge passed down through generations. Overall, their intelligence is shaped by their spiritual bond with nature and their survival-based knowledge.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Neithir possess a suite of advanced sensory abilities, finely attuned to their forested habitats. These senses, augmented by their connection to the mystical force of Archana, allow them to interact with and perceive their surroundings in extraordinary ways.
Hearing
The Neithir’s sharp, pointed ears grant them an acute sense of hearing, capable of detecting faint sounds across significant distances. They are especially sensitive to the rustling of leaves, the snapping of twigs, and other subtle forest noises, enabling them to discern the movement of prey or intruders long before they are visible.

Sight
Their vision is highly developed, allowing them to see clearly in low-light conditions, such as the dim canopy of their forest home or under the moonlight. This nocturnal adaptation is complemented by their unique ability to perceive faint archana glows, which manifest as a soft luminescence around magical entities, living beings, or enchanted objects, granting them an unparalleled awareness of magical presences.

Smell
The Neithir’s olfactory senses rival those of predatory animals. They can track prey by scent alone, distinguish individual scents with remarkable precision, and even detect subtle changes in the air, such as the scent of rain or approaching danger.

Echolocation
While not as refined as their other senses, the Neithir have a rudimentary ability to interpret sound reflections in enclosed or dense forest environments. By producing soft clicks, they can gain a spatial understanding of their surroundings, especially in total darknessor obscured areas.

Magic Sensitivity
Through their bond with archana, the Neithir can sense disturbances or flows of magical energy in their vicinity. This sensitivity acts as a sixth sense, alerting them to shifts in the environment that might be imperceptible to others. Their connection to archana also enhances their intuition, providing an almost preternatural awareness of threats and opportunities.

Psionic Tendencies
While the Neithir do not possess explicit psionic powers, their strong bond with nature and archana allows for a form of empathic communication. They can intuit the emotional states of nearby creatures and, in some cases, subtly influence the behavior of animals within their territory.

Some of these nets are imbued with magic, allowing them to bind or restrain with greater strength or even slowly grow around the target, making escape nearly impossible.

Nature's Sigils
The Neithir frequently use runes or sigils carved into stones, wood, or bone to enhance their magical practices. These sigils act as conduits for archana, allowing them to channel specific energies such as healing, protection, or elemental power. These symbols are often worn as amulets or inscribed into weapons to enhance their effects.

Common Dress Code

The Neithir dress code is rooted in their connection to nature, utilizing materials derived from the environment around them. They craft their clothing from leathers of animals they hunt, leaves, creeper plants, and vines, often woven into tunics, cloaks, and armored vests. These garments are lightweight, durable, and provide flexibility for the agile and swift movements of the Neithir. Bark and wood are sometimes used for armored padding or decorative elements, offering additional protection. Animal pelts are commonly worn as cloaks or shawls, especially in colder regions. Clothing is often enchanted or designed to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings, providing both practical use and enhancing their connection to the archana. This attire allows the Neithir to move silently through the forests or caves, maintaining their stealth and harmony with the world around them.

--Hybrid:It is not uncommon to observe a genetic combination of Dwendolien and Xhulldarien Neithirs due to frequent inter-clan mating. Genetically, the majority of these individuals exhibit dark skin, a trait inherited from the cavern Neithir lineage, as this allele is more dominant. Despite the hybridization, these individuals retain key characteristics from both subgroups, demonstrating a blend of physical and behavioral traits suited for both forest and subterranean environments.:--

Young Neithir Hunter
Based on calculations, the strength of one adult male Neithir is roughly equivalent to five adult human males or one orc. When considering their superior agility, speed, and reflexes, a single Neithir would likely be capable of defeating ten male humans or two to three orcs in combat. This combination of physical prowess and exceptional combat skills makes them one of the most formidable predators, soldiers, and warriors among humanoid species.

"I wandered deeper into the Etherwood than any sane man should, and by some twisted stroke of luck, I made it out alive. The trees—black as midnight—towered over me like silent sentinels, their branches coiling and twisting unnaturally, as though they moved when I wasn’t looking. The air was thick with something I can’t quite describe, a pulse... like the very forest itself was alive, watching, and listening. I felt the weight of magic pressing down on me, as if the trees were alive with it, ready to swallow me whole. I swear, those black trees weren’t just plants—they were something far older, far more dangerous. The archana that fills this place... it’s not of this world."

“She moved through the forest like a shadow, fierce and wild, yet there was something... hauntingly beautiful in the way she carried herself. Her eyes—glowing like embers—shone with a fire that made my heart race. She was no ordinary woman; her movements were feral, instinctive, as if she were one with the very trees themselves. Yet in her gaze, there was a grace, a power that pulled me in, leaving me torn between fear and longing. She was untamed, unyielding... and I found myself falling, hopelessly, for the very thing that could tear me apart."

"I thought I had the strength, the skill... But he was like a shadow, moving faster than I could strike. I swung my axe, but he was already gone, a blur in the trees. Each time I tried to land a blow, he was there, just out of reach—too fast, too strong. I thought for sure he would finish me, but instead, he just stood there, watching me bleed, those glowing eyes piercing through the darkness. Then, without a word, he disappeared into the woods, leaving me to wonder if I had ever truly been his opponent, or just another prey he could have ended... and chose not to."
— Elite Orcish Warrior.

With a tear in her eye, she whispered to the child wrapped in the blanket, her voice steady but filled with sorrow,
"You will be safe now, my little red fox. I love you more than the stars, more than the forest itself. Remember, no matter where you go, a part of me will always be with you. Be strong, my heart."

"In the study of the Neithir, we find ourselves examining a species that defies easy categorization, for they are neither wholly of the world nor entirely apart from it. Their existence is a delicate balance between the primal forces of nature and the archane energies that flow through the land. The Neithir are not simply inhabitants of the forests and caves they call home—they are a living embodiment of the wilderness itself, woven into the very fabric of the Thalas. Their connection to Archana, the mystical energies that govern the natural world, sets them apart from nearly all other humanoid species. Their physical prowess, heightened senses, and unparalleled agility are a testament to their deep bond with nature, allowing them to navigate their environments with a predatory grace that few can match. Yet it is their ability to harness and manipulate archana that truly elevates them—imbuing their tools, weapons, and very beings with an essence that blurs the line between magic and reality. This connection to the archana is not merely a tool of power, but a living, breathing part of their identity. Understanding the Neithir requires not only knowledge of their physiology and culture, but a deeper comprehension of how their existence is intertwined with the unseen forces of the world. In many ways, to study the Neithir is to study the heart of nature itself—a reminder that, in some places, magic and life are inseparable."
— From lectures on Archana Academy of Syndar

"We thought we could outsmart them. Fifteen men, a decoy trap, all to catch one of those... Neithir. We were wrong. The moment the first arrow flew, we realized how foolish we were. They are not beasts to be hunted—they are the hunters. We were mere shadows in their forest, and they, the true predators. By the time the sun set, only I remained, and the others... well, the Neithir never bothered with their lives. They left them where they fell. Alive, I was spared, but in truth, I was never truly in control. That forest belongs to them, and no number of men can change that."
