Half-Elf

The blood gifted by the Fey thins when mixed with the blood of others, but takes many generations to fully dissipate. Colloquially, one is considered a half-elf as long as they still possess some elvish physical traits such as the more obvious pointed ears. The longevity granted by Fey blood, however, will still manifest even when it becomes impossible to distinguish one of elvish lineage from an exceptionally attractive full-blooded member of their own species. This will dissipate by several decades with each generation removed from the elvish ancestor.   While half-elves most commonly have a human parent, elves can mix with other peoples to produce variant half-elf children. Half-elves of all varieties are an extreme rarity, however. While this is partly due to the fact that only a few colonies live near enough to other species to potentially intermingle, it is mostly because such fraternization is frowned upon. To other elves, intentionally thinning the Fey blood gifted to them is an insult to Titania and Oberon themselves.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

First generation half-elves will always resemble their pure elven ancestors the most, even among those with only half-elf parents. As the generations go on, those distinctly elven traits diminish. The long, pointed ears are the first to vanish, within only two generations usually. The smaller stature of an elf is also replaced with that of their other parents, as well as the fine features and the indescribable ethereal feeling that surrounds those of elvish descent.   The slow aging is what persists the longest in the bloodline, as well as the extended lifespan. It can take many generations before these traits will fade into insignificance.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
A half-elf's skin colour will most often resemble that of their non-elf parent. Those that do more closely resemble their elven parent are sometimes mistaken for pure-blooded, even by other elves.
