Sydney Buckingham

'If you ever question how Queen Anne gets away with it all - you only need to look at her court. You have an illiterate puppet, an old lady, a Nosferatu sycophant, a rose who is so far up the Kine's ass she aint paying attention, a warlock and then there's Sydney. Feel kinda bad for him in a way. He's third top Blue Blood and he ain't got the balls to rise up.'
What is there to be proud in when you have attained everything, but received nothing? This is the question that ex-English noble and naval captain, Sydney Buckingham confronts nightly. Buckingham was a respected naval captain during the Napoleonic era. He fought and survived Waterloo - returned home and raised a family. He was decorated, honored with distinctions, he had a wife and two children - but still Buckingham felt empty. When Buckingham received the embrace, he saw this as a chance to fill a void within. For awhile it did. Mithras and the Mithratic Mysteries became his existence. Buckingham felt purpose again, the same purpose that he felt while serving on the seas. But this turned out to be a lie too. When Mithras met the final death, Sydney's bond to the Methusulah and the Mithratic Mysteries waned; with this waning came a terrible realization; that pride and purpose he felt were false, mere fabrications of whatever blood bond he had partaken in; or at least that's what he believes.   Under Queen Anne's rule, Sydney saw himself rise the ranks. He was elevated to Primogen Council, once again Buckingham saw this as his possible salvation. He was still reeling from the loss of Mithras and loss of purpose, false or not. Buckingham saw his appointment as an opportunity to find that purpose, this time truly. This would not be the case. It soon became clear that Queen Anne nor her Seneschal, Valerius, saw Sydney as anything more than a figure-head for clan Ventrue. On paper Sydney is in charge of his clan; but in practice he is overshadowed by his Ventrue superiors. Sydney once more became the thing he despised, an old man who sits around in his medals and regalia.
