Silverclaw was s sometimes called “the Kindly Dragon of the North”. Seemingly fascinated by individuals, Silverclaw befriended and aided Ser Brinador early in the foundation of Brineven.
Silverclaw was a sleek, graceful silver wyrm who records indicate enjoyed a slow-paced, simple life in the wilds, spiced with occasional contact that he initiated on his own terms. He first enters the story of the founding of Brineven disguised in human shape on the outskirts of the Tuathwold, posing as the woodcutter Ergoth Falaer. Ser Brinador, having barely escaped a Calastani patrol determined to put an end to the leader of the rebellion met Ergoth as he and his knights fled. Ergoth agreed to lead them deeper into the forest, where the Calastani would not follow. As they entered the forest, a thick mist or fog came into being behind them and soon they had lost their pursuers. Ergoth led the knights to some fungus caverns and stocked fishpools he has established, providing them with ample food as their wounds healed.
Only the veteran rangers following Ser Brinador suspected that Ergoth was more than he seemed, and one in particular, Daud Strommer, even made the connection with the tales of the Guardian Worm who was famous in tavern-tales for the way tricking and misleading individuals and organization wishing to exploit the northern (at that time) provinces. The Guardian Wyrm was known in fireside stories for confounding such foes by assuming the shapes and mannerisms of known powerful and influential persons with uncanny precision.
The dragon approved of Brinador's efforts to found a northern realm of relative freedom and peace on the outskirts of the Tuathwold. Silverclaw, as Ergoth, began a long project of bringing the rebellious knights into contact with the Eldar of the wood in an effort to foster mutual understanding, if not friendship.
When Ser Brinador began appearing with a new follower named Talyn, a silent, cloaked, silver-haired elven swordsman. One of Ser Brinador's famed knights, the veteran Orbrind Hauthleather, began to insist that the cloaked swordsman was a shape assumed by some benevolent, powerful ally. Generations later, a draconic scholar confirmed that the swordsman Talyn, was one of Silverclaw’s favored human shapes.
Dezaldarum was known to like the company of intelligent, sensitive good-aligned humans. Silverclaw had a natural talent for mimicry, specializing in the voices, movements, and mannerisms of humans, elves, and alfar of both sexes. Kindness was the defining, governing element of Dezaldarum’s character, but he also has an impish sense of humor.
An accomplished singer with a prodigious memory for old lyrics and obscure harmonies, Silverclaw eagerly follows the careers and performances of the bards and minstrels of Brineven, both famous and obscure. When the city was new and developing, Talyn was known to frequent the new Greyleith Theater and sponsored some of its most-famed playwrights. He would often be found, in fireside or tavern audiences, drinking in every intonation and gesture, which he would mimic perfectly later.
