Bronzefort Wall

Where great evil is locked away...

Bronzefort wall is a large defensive structure that spans from coast to coast, separating the Forbidden Badlands from the continent of Aluin. Later a city would be built to home the guards that keep a watchful eye over the Badlands. That city would later become the Bronzefort Citadel.   The citadel is known for being one of the largest settlements in the Graveter Chain. Its size and economy makes it one of the more influential settlements along with The Jade Isle.

Demographics

Most of the population are Human with only a few exceptions in the form of Elven expatriates. It is believed that a large portion of the Human population are descendants of the few survivors from the fallen Kingdom of Lador. Those survivors settled outside the newly build Bronzefort wall and built up the city over the decades.

Government

The city is governed by a lord with a council of guild leaders that maintain certain policies and laws. Most products and land is taxed with most of the money going to the guilds and the overall defence of the city and the wall.

Defences

The city lies behind the massive and heavily defended Bronzefort Wall which spans from coast to coast and separates the Forbidden Badlands from the rest of the continent of Aluin. The city of Bronzefort was built behind the main fortified gate that serves as the only entrance to the Peninsula. Though, it is scarcely used for not many travel into the Forbidden Badlands. Due to the protection Bronzefort Wall provides, The rest of the city walls surrounding the settlement are not as grand and defensive as the main wall itself. The smaller walls guard against raiders and the occasional creature within Aluin, but there is no major threat to the city from within Aluin itself. Both Bronzefort Wall and the City walls are lined with defensive towers with regular cannon emplacements with the larger cannons on Bronzefort Wall. A regular contingent of guards and archers regularly watch from the massive wall. Within the citadel is a small keep, home to the Lord of the city and to protect the population in the event of a siege. However due to the years of peace and little need for the keep, the city began to outgrow the keep and the castle itself is now no more than the lord's home and location of the city council and court.

Industry & Trade

While farming and produce provide good trade for the city, Bronzefort's main source of income is through the selling of equipment. Decades of defending the massive Bronzefort Wall has allowed blacksmiths and forgers to perfect their craft to the point where Bronzefort weapons and armour are well sought after by most other settlements in Aluin. Metal is traded with Bronzefort from all over Aluin, even from the dwarven mines of the north, and traded back in the form of well crafted equipment.

Infrastructure

Outside the city walls are dedicated areas of land used for farming grain along with a small farmyard. Large windmills located around the grain fields are used to turn grain to flour to be used by the city and sold elsewhere. A single road leads into the city, connecting it with the rest of the towns and villages in the area. Bronzefort city built, underground, a new sewer system that uses vacuum tubes to pump sewage out of the city and towards the ocean. The city regularly shares resources with the outpost village of Riverskeep such as fish and sailing materials.

Assets

A large portion of the city's economy is in the form of copper, silver, gold and platinum coin pieces. The rest of the city's wealth is kept as products. Grain, Flour, equipment and clothing are just some of the valuables that make up the bulk of the city's economy.

Guilds and Factions

The merchant's guild holds a prominent position within the city, establishing trade and regulations for merchants and traders both within the city and with neighbouring cities. The city itself also has a well respected blacksmith's guild which is responsible for regulating the trade of equipment. The guild uses a recognisable symbol used to prove a piece of equipment or armour was forged by a reputable blacksmith.

History

At the end of the First Great War, after the fall of Lord Nal'loth and the Grim Order of Kala, Bronzefort Wall was erected. The massive wall, beginning at the northern coast of the peninsula and ending at the southern coast, was built to protect the continent of Aluin from the evil that lingered in the Forbidden Badlands after the war. It is said that the first guardsmen of the great wall were the survivors from the fallen Kingdom of Lador who fled the peninsula during the early days of the First Great War. The Wall Guard grew tired of the simple tents from the camps they set up and, eventually, pooled their resources together to build the first settlement. Built behind the wall for protection and in front of the main gate. As the settlement grew into a city, the settlers agreed to join the Graveter chain. The chain are a loose confederacy of settlements that banded together for protection. Eventually the city became so big that they built a small wall, connected to the massive Bronzefort wall.   Over the years since the city was first built, the wall and its guard have fought of countless creatures that would get too close to the wall. All manner of beasts from Orc raiders to giant scorpions. In that time, the blacksmiths, providing the guard with new weapons and armour would learn valuable lessons in order to perfect their craft. Eventually Bronzefort would be known for its first class smithing. A blacksmiths guild was created to protect the trade and craft of blacksmiths and to validate the reputation of the smith making such products. In time the city would become famous for its smithing, people came far and wide to trade their valuable metals for some of the finest equipment in Aluin. And people from the many Mercenary and Hunters guilds around the continent of Aluin would travel to Bronzefort to train with the Guards of the Wall.

Geography

Bronzefort Wall, along with the city, is built on top of a relatively flat grassy plain. The main wall stretches from coast to coast with the city itself built behind the centre of the wall, in front of the main gate. Water is collected from underground or brought from the nearby river via Riverskeep.

Natural Resources

The city's main resource is in the form of grain, farmed outside of the city walls and often processed into flour or ales, and livestock. Almost all of of the metals used by the city come from elsewhere, traded for the services of the city's blacksmiths. The city also owns most of the fish collected from its outpost village of Riverskeep.
