The Great War is a realm-wide conflict consuming the continent of Vladence of Realm 11: World War Lovecraft.

It is a conflict similar in tactics and technology to World War I. Contested areas are frequently no-man's-land stretches of territory between two opposing trench encampments.
The war resembles a stalemate, with territory gains being rare and of little consequence.
It is largely forgotten by the common folk how long the war has been raging, though it is over a hundred years old. It is believed a political assassination precipitated the war.
The two combatants are the Alliance for New Age Legionnaires and the Federation for Union of Departed States.

The Great War has drained both nations of their natural resources and wealth. Both sides see constant casualties and have lost countless soldiers and civilians to the conflict.
In the early years of the conflict, magic users were of great utility, and were conscripted heavily. They have become effectively extinct from Vladence.
