Midsomer Festival

The Midsomer Festival is a celebration of summer and of pagan culture and brings the people of Tynica together. The festival is known for it's many games and events, from axe throwing to sculpting. Many Tynicans will make their own cloths for the festival and spend time creating things with the rest of their community. The event ends with a massive ritual performed in Annavárosa celebrating summer and wishing for a bountiful harvest come latter in the year.   The Midsomer Festival is mostly celebrated in Tynica but ever since the unifcation of Woodangees into one nation there has been more blending of the cultures of Woodangees and Midsomer Festivals can be found throughout the country, but none is anywhere near as large as the main festival in Annavárosa.   The Midsomer Festival is an officially recognized state holiday in Woodangees, and is often used as a day to celebrate Tynican and pagan culture and their contributions to Woodangees as a whole.

History

The Midsomer Festival was suppressed for a very long time when Tynica was part of Niccadia, and as such the modern Festivals tend to go all out. Much about how the festival was performed prior to the brothers war has since been lost, and the modern festival takes what is known about the ancient ritual and combines more modern elements to create a truly unique celebration.

Execution

The ritual includes lighting several bonfires to dance around, drinking and being merry. Flowers are often used heavily in the ritual and in participants clothing and hair.

Observance

Takes place on the summer solstice.
