Chan-du (Shan doo)

Chan-du is a regional dish from the swamp lands of Niccadia and Ontangees. It is a popular dish in Woodangees and has even found its way into military MRE rotation, with menu item number 07 being Snail Chan-du. Chan-du recipes vary from slightly from area to area, but often include some kind of mushroom, the most popular being fire oyster, and various herbs and spices to make the sauce. The noodle are traditionally made with snap wheat, and native grain to Woodangees.

History

The origins of Chan-du are debated, but it has existed in some form or another in the swamps for the past few centuries, being a traditional dish of the people who lived near them. Chan-du has appeared in or been mentioned in many Woodangian books, plays, and movies, and has become somewhat known outside of the country as a Woodangian dish, and is often one of the dishes mentioned if Woodangian food is brought up outside the country.

Execution

The meat is cooked in the fortified butter, then snap wheat flower is added to thicken up the butter into a sauce. The noodles are to be boiled separately and any mushrooms or vegetables are so be cooked separately as well. add the mushrooms and vegetables to the butter sauce and meat and mix together. Plate noodles and add sauce mixture to the top. Serve with bread.

Components and tools

Chan-du is a noodle dish with an herbal butter sauce, often made from the milk of the platinum goat, and some sort of white meat, which can be anything from fish or poultry but is traditionally done with snail, caiman, or crayfish. It also usually has some sort of native mushroom, such as fire oyster or wizards beard. Many also include some sort of hot pepper to add spice.
