Myodancers

Myotic powers appear in two different forms in people: those, who have access to the Myo Nodes spread throughout the body and those, whose Myo Nodes are connected by Myo Channels. While the people, who only have the nodes, rarely manage to access them and need to use several tools or auxiliary means to perform with their (ritualistic) powers, those with connecting Myo Channels also can access their powers instantly and at any time; as long as Myo is present. Those are the so called Myodancers. The general public however rarely even knows about this difference and simply calls everyone with myotic abilities or powers a Myotic.   Back in the past, when myotic powers first showed up, it where the Myodancers themselves who thought that their powers ought to be controlled by a governing system. Mainly, to manifest control and secure themselves power and wealth, but also because of the damages rouge Myotics caused. The frightened population agreed. So the Academies where born and exist until this day. Even though the rules are less strict and the control mechanisms less interfering with personal choices, they are still there, for the best of everyone. The whole world generally agrees.   When the Myodancers rose to power back in 135 AS - as they all stuck together due to the efforts of Frayn of Rimerock - they were a nearly unstoppable force and thus gained huge amounts of riches and wealth, lasting some families to this day. Myotic powers are strictly controlled through the academies these days, so that as little abuse as possible can happen, but still, there are those who defy any rule and only act to their personal advantage.   Usually, people are born as Myodancers or not. Observations have shown, that every year the percentage of babies born with powers gets higher, suggesting that one day everyone might have them. So far, you are basically stuck with what you’ve got. There were reports of some rare cases, where people suddenly developed myotic powers out of the blue, but this seems to be the exception that proves the rule. Also, there have been experiments to manifest myotic powers in people without. This has worked twice so far, both times unable to repeat the experiment (the experiments were actually repeated repeatedly, but the result did not happen again).   Accessing the innate powers per se isn’t that hard, controlling them however requires lots of training. Before there were academies, people managed it all the time to explode themselves and others by using their powers negligently. Usually it takes the average person at least a decade of training, before they can really call it “controlled” use of myotic powers. Therefor, Myodancers focus on one of the twelfe Myo Aspects in the beginning. Usually the one, that suits their personality best. Achieving true mastery in even one of the aspects can take up a whole lifetime. Myodancers able to control more than one aspect are therefor very rare.
