Elves
Elves are the one of the many species found upon Terra Eclipsis, though they're most certainly not the oldest. With notable traits such as pointed ears, more vibrant hair pigmentations, and a natural affinity for Mana, Elves are a force to be reckoned with, having been at the forefront of many wars across Terra Eclipsis.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Owing to their distant relation to Humanity, Elves possess the same sort've bipedal anatomy and form as them. Where the distinction between them and Humanity begins, however, is their height and ear-shape. They tend to be taller than Humans by a small amount, and the back of their ears oftentimes stretch out into a point.
Genetics and Reproduction
Elves typically reproduce via a biological male mating with one of the opposite biological sex, with the female becoming pregnant afterward. As with Humans, they're compatible with any other human-descendant species of the realms, such as Nymphs and Vampires.
Pregnancies for Elves tend to last for a tad bit longer than Humans, lasting for around 320 days, give or take more or less time depending on any conditions that the Elf or it's baby has. If an Elven baby is partly the offspring of a human, then the Elven traits will take dominance over the Human traits. If it's anything else such as a Nymph or a Vampire, it'll typically depend on the genes of one or the other, leaving it to be a crapshoot in a sense.
Growth Rate & Stages
There are four stages to an Elf's lifecycle, one that lasts double that of a normal Human's. Atleast, it would under normal circumstances, if it wasn't for The Withering. Regardless, these stages are:
Ecology and Habitats
An Elf can easily live in multiple different enviroments, from the harsh deserts to the snow-tipped mountains. With their bodies adjusting to the enviroment around them due to their link to nature, different groups of Elves have come into existance, shaped by the world around them to further their survival. This can manifest with ways such as:
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
As it was with humans, they rely on their six senses: Sight, Hearing, Touch, Smell, Taste, and Magical Capability. Unlike them, however, Elves have a much higher capacity and sense for Mana. This is owed to the fact that unlike Humanity, the Elves never left behind their magical history. Infact, they embraced it, which ensured that their bodies would always have this sixth sense for the eons that they have existed.
Alongside these six senses, however, Elves have a seventh sense: Natura. They've long since connected themselves to nature and as such, they rely on the echoes and sounds of the forest and animals around them. This has benefited the Elves greatly, as it allows for them to achieve harmony with nature. They become more aware of the dangers within the woods, whether or not something is poisonous or otherwise, and so forth.
Civilization and Culture
Gender Ideals
Elves tend to be rather fluid for the most part in regards to gender, with it not being unheard of for an Elf to be a gender different than what their birth one is, with a few Arcanists even assisting with changing an Elf's body to match the gender they feel is right. However, in areas such as The Kingdom, this is considered to be a crime, which has pushed a majority of gender-nonconforming folks out of the area and into the other countries, such as The Union and The Farlands.
Relationship Ideals
A good majority of Elves are fluid in what their preferences are. Although many will stick to the opposite sex, there are a substantial amount of Elves that are into the same gender , Bisexual , or Pansexual . Oftentimes, too, you'll have Elves that are interested in none !
History
After the devastation following an event known as The Schism, thousands of what was once the great Nephilim would be displaced onto one of the realms that had been created by the original Archons. Trapped within this realm with no clear means of leaving, the Nephilim-- having lost a great amount of Resolve in their forms, would take to harvesting Mana from the forestry around them.
Building their new homes within the forestry, living amongst the animals and the strange, magical plants that were found throughout the realm, the Nephilim would begin to shift in form, adapting to the woods around them. Eventually, they would become what would be known as Elves.
Their life on this realm was brutal from the offset, as they would come into conflict with the two other dominant species that existed on Terra long before them: The strategic, prideful warrior race of Goblins, and the technical, intelligent Dwarves. What helped the Elves survive this early time, however, was a combination of the ingenuity the Elves had, their quickly-growing ability to make use the elements of nature, and their general magical strength that was unseen for this realm.
At this point in time, five different Elves would rise up, becoming great leaders, inventors, mages, and warriors to help the Elves establish their foothold within Terra Eclipsis. These heroes, known as the Five Karmas, would be instrumental in creating the dominant Elven kingdoms. These Karmas were The Knight, The Paladin, The Mage, The Engineer, and The Summoner.
From them, the kingdoms of The Union (The Knight and The Mage), Arsch (The Paladin), The Kingdom (The Engineer), and the Farlands would be created.
Heavily varied depending on the region and enviroment they live in, from darker tanned colors, to light purple and greys, to vibrant; pastel colorations.
I like your take on elves. I really like that they gain traits in their teenage years to help them adapt better to their environment.
