Orla of Rivia

Big Trouble in Little Caven

For the full adventure: Big Trouble in Little Caven   Orla first entered the small, occupied village of Caven, under the guise of an Oxenfurt researcher studying the legendary lost elven city of Shaerrawedd. The settlement, located within occupied Kaedwen, was a focal point for guerrilla resistance against Nilfgaardian forces. Orla's true identity as a sorceress remained hidden, as the trauma of the mage massacre at Loc Muinne still haunted her deeply:
“Discretion about my profession is paramount—especially after Loc Muinne.”
Shortly after arriving, Orla met the charismatic bard Bartram, whose easy charm soon penetrated her emotional defenses. While initially guarded, Orla cautiously confided in him about her magical nature during a private moment. Their friendship quickly flourished, each recognizing the complementary nature of their personalities—her intellectual calm balanced his warmth and openness.   The two hired a local trapper named Calum as a guide. His sudden and violent death deeply unsettled Orla. Though she maintained composure publicly, privately she felt responsible, aware that her inquiries into magical sites had brought danger to innocents. Throughout this, she quietly forged a friendship with Milaen, a skilled and compassionate healer from the area, who would soon become essential to her emotional and physical survival.
Throughout the turmoil and guerrilla resistance activity surrounding the village and the Nilfgaardian garrison, Orla remained a pillar of emotional stability, quietly guiding Bartram and Milaen while carefully managing her secret identity amidst tense local politics and suspicion.

The Williard Estate

Their journey brought them to the infamous Williard Estate, known for its cursed lineage and dark history. Here, Orla’s magical abilities became critical. The estate harbored a dark curse binding young Percy Williard to his deceased father's malicious spirit.   With a firm yet gentle approach, Orla conducted a cleansing ritual to free Percy, profoundly aware that such magical bonds required willing participation:
“Percy, you must choose this yourself. Only your free will can break these chains.”
Successfully freeing Percy from the curse further cemented Orla’s central role within the group. She emerged as the intellectual and moral compass, quietly respected by her companions. Afterward, Orla and Bartram closely discussed mysterious magical artifacts they discovered at the estate, including enchanted pipes, foreshadowing deeper magical mysteries to pursue together.

Journey to Maribor & The Mammuna Crisis

Leaving Caven, the group journeyed toward Maribor through war-ravaged countryside. They soon encountered the troubled village of Beeches, caught up in a terrifying supernatural crisis: local children had been abducted by a malevolent entity—a mamuna. This cursed creature, desperate to replace its own lost child, created tension, fear, and grief among villagers and travelers alike.   Orla’s leadership and strategic caution guided her companions safely through tense interactions and investigations, her insight crucial to confronting the mamuna and resolving the village's distress.   Yet tragedy struck once more. During a related encounter with a vicious rotfiend, Orla was critically wounded in its explosive death throes. This injury left her gravely weakened, permanently shifting her from frontline involvement to intellectual guidance and emotional support.   As she lay severely wounded, the Witcher Teagan, who had initially clashed with Orla over his harsh tactics, revealed his deepening emotional attachment, pleading desperately at her side:   “Don’t die, ok?”   Surviving narrowly due to Milaen’s medical expertise, Orla began a slow physical recovery while deepening her romantic relationship with Teagan, who quietly became integral to her emotional life.

Maribor & Complex Alliances

Entering Maribor—recently fallen to Nilfgaardian control—the group became entangled in dangerous espionage, resistance activity, and political intrigue. Orla’s role became increasingly supportive and strategic, offering emotional stability to her friends amid rising tension and uncertainty.   Her relationship with Teagan deepened openly during this period. The romance blossomed, marked by playful banter and genuine intimacy. Orla openly intended to accompany Teagan on future hunts, trusting him implicitly and demonstrating a profound shift from guarded scholar to emotionally open companion:   “I’ll join Teagan on his hunts. Tagging along with a witcher can yield ‘exotic’ ingredients—and good company.”   Simultaneously, Milaen’s personal troubles intensified with the return of a figure from her past. Orla’s gentle emotional support provided critical strength, reassuring Milaen during moments of doubt:   “People change, Milaen. If it's truly him, perhaps he’s changed too. Wait and see before deciding.”   Throughout Maribor’s tension-filled streets, Bartram’s constant humor and genuine friendship continued to provide comfort and reassurance to Orla, further cementing their bond.

The Assault on Maribor Garrison & Tragic Loss

Maribor’s resistance reached its climax with a daring and desperate plan: the complete destruction of the Nilfgaardian garrison. Explosives were smuggled into the city as part of a coordinated strike to undermine Nilfgaardian control, bringing Orla’s group into direct collaboration with another party—Rook, Kat, and Atruvel.   Initially, Orla viewed these newcomers, particularly Kat, with wary suspicion due to their ruthless approach. Her fierce protectiveness surfaced powerfully when Kat proposed risks to Orla’s cherished companions:   “We've lost enough already. I won't let you risk their lives again.”   Eventually, however, shared goals and pragmatic necessity drove her to cautious alliance and cooperation.   Amid the chaos and violence surrounding the garrison attack, disaster struck again with devastating personal loss: Teagan was killed. His death shattered Orla emotionally, her grief profound and overwhelming. Though she tried to maintain composure outwardly, her pain was clear to all around her, particularly Milaen and Bartram, who provided quiet, compassionate support through her darkest moments.   This tragedy permanently altered Orla, deepening her strength while leaving an indelible emotional scar.   Final Chapter: Farewell and Solitary Departure In the wake of victory and sorrow, Temeria honored Bartram’s bravery with lands and title. Orla accompanied him and Milaen to their new home, sharing a tender and bittersweet farewell, quietly promising future visits:
“This isn’t goodbye. I’ll see you again soon.”
Yet despite the promise of comfort and belonging, Orla ultimately chose solitude. Her emotional wounds from Teagan’s loss were deep, prompting her to resume her solitary path. Her departure was dignified and hopeful, though tinged by lingering sorrow, reflecting both resilience and vulnerability in her final words:
“Perhaps someday, my road will lead me back to you.”
