J'Cob

I hope you remebered to bring your offering. It's going to be a bit of a wild crossing this time.

A Protector

Those who live around Carawall Lake are familliar with the tales of the deity who is said to reside within it's depths. To those who make a living upon its waters, they are more than just tales. The waters of Carawall Lake can be treacherous for sailors who are not familliar with them, and merely dangerous for those who are. All who travel regularly upon the lake make sure to carry offerings for J'Cob, the blue man of the lake, so that he might aid them if they get into trouble. He has been known to help sailors, but there are also tales of him unleashing his wrath upon those who despoil his lake.

A Growing Faith

The first recorded sighting of this lake deity was two hundred and fourteen years ago, in the journal of Captain Jiris Fairweather, though the stories had been around for much longer than that. Jiris was Captain of the Soaring Gull, one of the longest serving passenger vessels of its time, and a highly skilled and respected sailor. As such her story was widely believed, especially by those who knew her. Since then, it has become common practice for those who sail upon Carawall Lake to seek the favour of the Demi-God through rituals and offerings.
We were in a bad way, surrounded by impenetrable fog, and lost in the middle of the stone jaws. My Uncle had taught me the tales of J'Cob, claiming to have had his own encounter with the lake deity, so I took the small windmill I had carved, and offered it to the lake. I beseeched the lake for help and to my suprise my calls were answered. He rose from the lake, and guided us through the jaws to safety.
