God

Does God even exist? What do we know about him, really? Only those things that are told us by the church, and not a single record of him doing anything to fix the mess that is our world right now. I mean, with all that cruelty and violence going on, any kind God would've intervened already, am I right? Instead, he sends that "Gracious Wind" to make all magic dissapear from the world, as if that was our biggest problem. How about sending some thunderbolts to befall all of those arrogant nobles?

Neither the Church of Three Prophets nor the Old Church, which are two major religions of the Old World, define what God is really like. Both of those religions teach that God is a being that created the whole of Windrule and the Gracious Wind to purify Windrule of its magic, which is considered to be an impurity brought into the newly-born world by Chaos. In addition, the Church of Three Prophets also puts more emphasis on the Gracious Wind as an instrument of God's divine will, said to be made to breathe life into the world and the people inhabiting it. However, no reason is given as to why God decided to create Windrule as well as where he is and has been doing after that. Those questions have occupied the minds of scholars for the longest time, and numerous sects and cults each propagate their own views on the issue.
