Where Thors hammer strikes the mountain

The Kingdom of Dontil, home of the Dwarves. Surrounded by a natural barrier of mountains and sea, this kingdom has stood since before records were kept. It is Currently ruled over by King Duran (Son of Duril) It's vast wealth is due to the rich mineral wealth of the mountains.

Structure

A kingdom ruled by a single king and his queen, rule is passed from father to first born son

To continue to grow the dwarven race, strengthen the kingdom of Dontil and protect the people.

Assets

Vast wealth in the form of silver, gold, platinum and gems. A standing army of 100'000 men stationed at several keeps, forts and port towns.

History

The Kingdom of Dontil has stood since before the divergance and is one of the few place where written history predates that event. It has been ruled by the IronBeard family since the divergance saw the death of the last remaining family member of the founders of the kingdom. It has come under direct attack from 3 invaders (all of which were repelled) and claims to have felled an ancient red dragon the used to claim a home in the extinct volcano at the centre of the kingdom.

Demography and Population

The polulation of Dontil is focused on the 3 major cities:   Craghammer- The Capital of Dontil to the north, buried deep in the side of a mountain range home of the king and the famous underforge.   Durilstown- The second largest city built as a giant fortress atop of an extinct volcano in the centre of the kingdom, the house a large portion of the standing army aswell as being the religious Capital of the country.   Stormsreach- A giant port city on the southern coast, the centre of trade between the many nations of WildeMount and the Kingdom of Dontil.   There are a few smaller towns and villages spread throughout the region the focus on farmed the large grassland flats of Dontil.

Territories

Dontil's lands spread south of Thordak Mountains all the way to the coast of the Serranean Sea, and from the Giants stair case in the west, east to the border of Faramisia. it encompasses the falen woods and Mount Bastion. Though its centre runs the River Teer that is used to transport good to and from the Craghammer. These are the ancestral lands of the dwarven people.

Military

Dontil has a standing army of 100000 men split into several forces:   The Dawn Legion- Essentially the police force. Each city/town/village has a lawmaster who leads the Dawn legionaires for that city.   The Black Watch- The main fighting force of the Dontil typically border guards, and stationed forces at keeps and forts.   The Elite Guard- The ELITE Guard, are those that protect the king and his palace, they are the best trained battle tested warriors selected from each of the main regiments. it is considered a great honour to be selected for this service. They all serve with undying loyalty to the crown.   The Fallen Forces- This regiment is made up of those who have been cast out from society, given a choice between long term prison and death sentences many opt to join the Fallen forces and spend the rest of their days in the Underdark fighting the scourge that dwell below the mountains.

Technological Level

basic smithing is available to all as is carpentry and woodworking. Dontil is renowned for it's master smiths and everyone has a basic undestanding of forgework.   Dontil is the only nation that currently has access to such things as siege weaponry which it keeps as a closely guarded secret.

Religion

Religious worship is wide spread in Dontil, with no official state religion people are free to worship who they wish. though only a few a represented by official temples. most chose to worship gods such as Kord, Thor and Freya.   Kord represents strength and battle Thor represents Power and smithing Freya represent beauty, health and prosperity.   No worship is officially outlawed but many are considered to be unfavourable in the eyes of public opinion.

Foreign Relations

Dontil has a strong trade alliance with it's neighbouring nations of both humans and elves. however it's borders are closely guarded due the constant threat of Goblin armies that reside north of Dontil and often attack over the mountain passes.

Agriculture & Industry

Dontil is a powerhouse as far as trade is concerned dealing primarily is the trade of metals and fine minerals, what little agriculture it has to speak of isn't enough to sustain it's population and most grains and wheat is shipped in from over seas. The only agriculture that Dontil does take pride in is it's massive herds of grazing cattle with roam the vast grassy plains, and provide the majority of meat and dairy to the kingdom.

Trade & Transport

Trade routes are typically deal with by one of two means, the first is by wagon over land from the smaller mines where they would travel to the nearest village that sits along the bank of the River Teer. This is the main method of transporting goods around the country from the port up to the main land and visa versa.

Education

There is no official schooling system in place, most wealthy families will pay tutuors to educate their children while others can take a job with any learning institute and gain knowledge this way. Although all members of the army are required to know how to read and write, typical villages and farming communities may have little more than a basic understanding of maths for trading purposes.

Infrastructure

Typical physical assets include waterways for transport and trade, several ports along the coast and stone roads across the grass lands.   All the major cities and some of the larger towns have sewage sytems in place and aquaducts that transport fresh water into the town for the wealthiest members of society.   Larger cities contain several castle and keeps that house the armed forces aswell as jails, town halls and guild halls. smaller towns will often only have a townmasters hall for basic governmental needs with a single cell and gallows.

Major Exports
Exports are mostly dwarven stone aswell as a large amount of iron and steel these items are in high demand from other nations and are often used at the negotiating table when allies meet and new friendships are forged. Minerals and precious gems are shipped out on massive well armed galeons to other nations where they can be refined to use for jewellery and enchanting purposes.
Major Imports
Imports are typically grains and wheat for the most part, small shipment of spices and any specilized herbs are brought in from neighbouring kingdoms. There are a few live stock trades aswell since horses other mounts don't reside naturally in Dontil
Legislative Body
The Crowned king Duran IronBeard has the final say in all matters of law and state however typicaly the day to day legslation is handled by representatives of the noble houses, military comanders and merchant guild leaders. Each village/has a small provincial government run by a person of influence installed by the local populace or the crown.
Judicial Body
The Dawn Legion are responsible for maintaining law and order throughout the kingdom. they will have a small keep in most towns, with jails and castles in larger cities. Small villages will typically have a law master with a selection of 4 - 6 Gaurds from the Legion as well as a standing militia.
