The Oathsworn Organization in White Reach | World Anvil

The Oathsworn

Overview

The mercenary group known as "The Oathsworn" is a loose combination of Lances serving an unknown employer inside former Draconis Combine territory seized by the Federated Commonwealth during the Fourth Succession War. Their presence has been confirmed on four systems which changed hands, apparently extracting people of interest from the areas before they could be found. Captain Tybalt, known as "King of Catapults" for having two in his outfit, has been a cautious leader and avoids deploying his entire force in any one engagement. This has allowed him to also deploy flanking forces to help facilitate a retreat, but overall his people are quite talented and make attempts to avoid becoming too deeply entrenched in a battle.

White Reach Operations

Priam Company discovered a base of operations inside Grendich Downs in mid-September, 3031, and engaged two Lances of the Oathsworn forces. A priceless and rare Catapult CPLT-K2 was destroyed in the engagement and the base compromised by the dogged persistence of Priam Company's 'MechWarriors. Lieutenant Siegbold was in command of the defense and retreated with what remained of her forces since they wished to avoid having more forces called in for support. They were unaware no such assistance could be had, and by the time they realized reinforcements were not coming to Priam Company's aid it was too late to catch them.

On March 14th, 3032, the Harbingers assaulted the Oathsworn base of operations on Emmetton Island and seized it along with a large piece of materiel. After the battle, the regrouping outfit found Captain Tybalt missing and nobody quite certain what had happened to him. Lieutenant Siegbold took over the vacant position as the most senior officer who was prepared to take it. As of now, the Oathsworn have returned to a defensive position and are awaiting further instructions from their employer.

Disbandment

When Xemira Reiselle and the Ouroboros Sun revealed themselves, the Oathsworn quickly fell into line and were reorganized into their employer's forces. Lieutenant Siegbold in particular chose to take command defending a vital facility on Jedora, while others were folded into Xemira's honor guard and assigned to protect her position. Following the capture of the last base of operations, some members were left unaccounted for and assumed to be a future hazard.
