Lower Firan
The section of Firan that houses most of the poor people. It makes up around 70% of Firan and covers the slight hills and cliffs around Upper Firan .
Demographics
Lower Firan is home to people who weren't able to make it big in Upper Firan or who weren't well off to begin with. As a result, everyone here is on the poor side of things. Like Upper Firan, all ethnicities have made their homes here, but the most common ones are Human s and Cappold s because they can better handle the hotness.
Government
Although Lower Firan is still part of Upper Firan and is thus almost directly under the Aitaranite ruler's thumb, most rulers don't pay any attention to it because of the ingrained idea that the people there are less than people. Because of this, there are pretty much no laws here. Crime runs rampant and people are forced to do what they have to to survive. Many are extremely bitter about how the government treats them, but they don't know what to do about it.
One of the few rulers who ever tried to change how Lower Firan was viewed by the public and tried to give them rights was Yunvei . Some speculate that one of the dangerous ideas that he was supposedly propagating that led to his demise was the idea that Lower Firanites deserve the same privileges as Upper Firanites.
Defences
They have no form of defense other than their own street smarts. The Kirimi couldn't care any less about them, and any fights they get into are usually with their own ilk.
Industry & Trade
Many inhabitants here hope that the myths of treasure and buried gold nearby are true and seek those things out. Others own ranches and herd cattle and sheep. Ranchers will often sell their wares on the streets, but most of it can't be trusted due to many Firanite inhabitants not having an affinity for Ice magic.
Infrastructure
Lower Firan, especially on its outskirts, has several ranches and things of that nature, the spirit of cowboyism far more prevalent here than in Upper Firan (though, Upper Firanite fashion is still a descendent of cowboys). Their roads are very old and have adapted to fit horses, as that is the most common form of transportation.
Assets
Being far more poor than Upper Firanites, they don't have nearly as many assets or any at all.
History
It was created very quickly after the split of the gods and became the capitol. The castle was the first thing to be built and the first queen of Aitaran, Foltaire, had a large hand in its creation. Many monuments were placed everywhere to respect mercenaries and otherwise that served the castle and its forces.
For quite a while, Firan wasn't divided. Somewhere along the way, however, the wealth began to shift and a small portion of the Firanites began to be wealthier than the others, particularly when more people started coming to Firan in hopes of selling their wares. The rich started populating the buildings closer to the castle while those who weren't as rich populated the outskirts.
Architecture
The architecture here is reminiscent of the Wild West. Buildings that weren't meant to be lived in, such as taverns, have swinging doors while others have a kind more similar to what we see in our world. False front buildings (buildings that are meant to look nice from the front but in reality aren't nice at all) are also extremely common, especially for commercial buildings. The paint on false fronts is normally chipped though, so the facade isn't too successful.
Geography
Unlike the flatter Upper Firan, Lower Firan is home to cliffs and some hills (but not many). It's surrounded by plains, and, past that, mountains. Because of the location of the mountains, the area around Firan is fairly dry.
Natural Resources
Wool, leather, cattle, food from ranches, ore if you're lucky.
