Domesticate

As seen in
A domesticate is not an official dragon species, but a term used to describe a dragon that was born and raised by humans. Following the The Great Rebellion dragons living among humans slowly began losing their status until they became little more than pets. It originally began with dragons taking on the role of bodyguards within human households. This was meant to be a show of good faith, to be an example of humans and dragons working together and dissuade any enemies from attacking. Over time, it became less necessary to have a dragon bodyguard, but the practice of having a dragon in the family remained. Eventually, they became little more than pets.   Clan-born dragons see domesticates as submissive and weak and, therefore, are very cruel to them. Clan-borns have even been known to kill domesticates for even speaking to them. It is easy to tell the difference between a domesticate and clan-born dragon based on how they address humans.   Domesticate Life   Domesticates are required to be registered at birth or the time they are adopted into a human household. Most dragons are born into a human family, but it is not uncommon for a dragon to be taken in at older age, usually exiles to avoid persecution by other dragons. There are rumors that some dragons become pets to pay off debts, but this practice is illegal.   Once a domesticate reaches maturity (16 years), it is no longer bound to the family it lives with, however, this matters little when domesticates not living with a human have short life expectancies.
