Bataque (Bat-tak)

The city of Bataque is a large settlement in the west of Vexan. It serves as the capital of the Province of Bataque and houses a steward of the king. The city is the considered the most western city of the North, not counting the towns of Holzmark. The city is characterized by short mild summers and long cold winters, with a people that focus much on seafaring and craftsmanship of all kinds.

Government

The city is runned by a steward in the name of the King of Vexan.

He is helped in decisionmaking by his advisors, wich he chooses himself. In the background there is one by the king sent inspector, who also functiones as personal messenger for communications between the king and the steward.

Defences

The town is surrounded by a 33 ft high wall with 40 ft high round towers on every 120 ft of the wall. The city has a fortified barracks wich holds place for 4500 men, although the real garrison consists of only 750 men, with 1400 men ready to serve at each given time, being part of the so called "citizens militia".

Infrastructure

The town is devided between an outer-wall and an inner-wall section.

The outer-wall concists of little blocks of houses for the poor, with little chapels and farms in between.

The inner-wall section consits of middle- and upperclass houses, diffrent shops and govermental buildings.

Forming the destinctive skyline of the city is the mighty Citadel of Bataque and the Temple of Corellon, a large square building with a round dome on top and a high clocktower.
