North Kingdom of Alhava

Alhava was divided into two after the Exploration Ban in 1 EB. Alhava was also known from then on as United Lands of Alhava and was divided into the Northern Kingdom and the Southern Magocracy. The Northern Kingdom was first ruled by the Royal Family of Valor but was passed to the Noble Family of Wit after the civil war in 1200 EB. The Family of Wit became the Royal Family and have been reigning since then.

Structure

The North Kingdom follows a monarchic structure and is therefore defined by its King and Queen. The current (1596) King of the North Kingdom is Eston Wit and the current Queen is Emy Wit. Eston Wit has been the king since 1574 EB.

Public Agenda

The Royal Family of Wit started their reign in 1200 EB. The Royal Family then focused on strengthening the borders between the Land of Dark and held the South Magocracy a deal for the South to provide them extra protection at the borders and for them to provide the South good harvest. Their first priority now (1596) is environmental health instead of economical progress which is why the North Kingdom has many natural beauty sights as the Royal Family wants to keep it that way. An abundant environment is a good enough motivation in itself but the public is wary of the monarchy's hidden agendas. In 1595, crops had started to dwindle because of a cold winter and the monarchy's response to this is to prioritize the import of food from the farm regions to the main capital, the City of Esbri. Many people are starting to theorize that the Royal Family only intends to keep the environment healthy so as they themselves would not suffer.

Foreign Relations

A political organization that the North Kingdom has is the South Magocracy. These two organizations have had many complications since the Exploration Ban including the 200 year magic ban in the North Kingdom that didn't allow mages to travel, migrate or visit the North Kingdom (1100 EB.) Still, they managed to maintain a good diplomatic relation.

Currency

The official currency is the wooden currency proposed in 261 EB by the Royal Family of Valor. The currency is designed as two inch thick rectangular pieces of wood with different weights. The weight can determine how much the money is worth. A piece weighing no more than half a pound is worth 3 apples or 1 egg or 5 pints of water. A piece weighing half a pound is worth 5 apples or half a chicken or 10 pints of water. A piece weighing a whole pound is worth a simple jewelry or a whole meal or 20 pints of water. The people of the North Kingdom receive about 20 pieces of money each month depending on their work as monitored by the Royal Family and the Noble Families. Citizens doing well in their work receive more whole pounds than less whole pounds.
