Courtship Ideals

Courtship is much more complicated within mages than in humans. Mages hold themselves at a high esteem and is therefore expected to be treated with specialty when courted. Most of the time, it is men who initiate but recently (starting from the 13th century), gender roles have been redefined and many people do not follow most gender ideals/roles built from previous centuries. Still, courtship is still considered as manners to the mages of the South. When wanting someone to be your girlfriend/boyfriend, a mage must:
  • use magic to endear them (i.e using one's water magic to create a fountain show or using one's crystal manipulation to form an intricate necklace.
  • compose a letter to the receiver mage's parents (optional for manners)

Relationship Ideals

Relationships in the North Kingdom of Alhava are quite diverse as many varieties are accepted. The cases that are not accepted are Incest, Zoophilia and a relationship between an inanimate object (which has never occurred ever in the timeline but will be stated here for information purposes.) There are only a few ideals that Alhavians mostly follow and these are:

  1. A member of the couple should be a member of the Army when married especially in the South.
  1. A member of the couple should know magic.
  1. In the event of inter-Kingdom marriage (one North, other South), the two will settle down in the kingdom where they have met.
