Sporlun

Sporlun is a fungri, a mushroom-like being from Undercliff and a devoted member of the Emerald Enclave. He serves as the primary caretaker of the compost systems at Ilythiir's Garden, a nature preserve in the North Ward of Waterdeep. Friendly and mysterious, Sporlun communicates through telepathic spores and delighted hums rather than conventional speech. While many find his manner strange, his insights are often delivered through uncanny and cryptic gifts of fungi, each with peculiar but meaningful significance.

Sporlun lives in a lumpy, mushroom-ringed hut affectionately referred to as Sporlun's Compost-Hut, located near the northern edge of Ilythiir's Garden. He is responsible for tending the compost and returning decay to the cycle of life. Despite his odd appearance and nonverbal communication style, he has become a quietly beloved figure among those who frequent the park.

Roywyn enlisted Sporlun’s help during a surge of unnatural vegetable attacks in the North Ward, recognizing his special attunement to the balance of plant-based magic. He identified corrupted produce and traced it back to the source of the disturbance, helping guide Melvin and Kostas through a chaotic but ultimately successful effort to stop the threat. His bond with Roywyn and deep awareness of magical flora make him a valuable ally in times of natural disruption. As a fungri, Sporlun possess the natural ability to commune with plants.

Sporlun resembles a small, sentient mushroom with a humanoid form. He is non-aggressive, deeply intuitive, and enigmatic, preferring to communicate through scent-based telepathy that evokes feelings, memories, and meaning rather than words. Despite his silence, his presence is comforting to those attuned to the natural world.
