While not beholden to any one faction, he maintains ties to the
Zhentarim, using their network when it suits him.
While Kalas prefers the comfort and flexibility of life in Faerûn, he is no stranger to dangerous contracts in difficult planes. He sees morality as a luxury and is more concerned with reliability, profit, and discretion. His reputation is built on delivering what others can’t, regardless of the plane it must be pulled from.

The Grey Market
Kalas and
Zathariel founded The Grey Market as a fully functional rare item emporium, known for its curated selection of extraplanar goods. The shop is legally recognized and does steady business with nobles, scholars, and adventurers alike. Its true appeal, however, lies in its layered operation. A modest inventory of low-tier contraband is kept accessible for routine raids by the
City Watch—just enough to placate authorities and maintain the appearance of compliance. Those who prove themselves trustworthy may be granted access to a discreet back room with more serious wares. The actual vault of high-risk items—including those from the Lower Planes—is hidden even deeper, known only to a select few.
Current Endeavor
Kalas is presently in the Nine Hells pursuing two more soul coins for a mysterious buyer, soul coins of
Cassalanter ancestors. The job is dangerous and expected to last for a couple more months, and his prolonged absence has left Zathariel in charge of operations in Waterdeep. Though the nature of the coins' intended use remains unknown to the party, their infernal nature suggests a client of considerable influence—and risk.
Relationships
Zathariel – Zathariel is Kalas’s business partner, romantic companion, and trusted equal. The two are inseparable in reputation, running The Grey Market with a balance of charm, menace, and savvy. Zathariel remains in Waterdeep managing their operations while Kalas navigates his current assignment.
