Pheonix Flame

Wielders of the Flame are almost exclusively made up of those who worship Jovian, the Pheonix. His power flows through them, and the practitioners are known as Conduits. The Flame cannot affect living things, but can be infused into inanimate objects. A shape can be given to these infusions in order to cause a specific effect, which is known as an enchantment. Those who imbue items with powerful enchantments, to cause pain or to protect, are masters at the craft. Any Conduit can infuse an item with raw Flame however, and throw it at an enemy. This has given squads of Conduits the nickname of Point Blank Trebuchets among their peers. Fanciful tales speak of legendary Conduits, who are said to once have been able to enchant the very air, creating spontaneous conflagrations that tore through armies. Regardless of the truth, a Conduit must be touching an item to imbue it, and bigger items require more Flame. Long-lasting enchantments are rare, as common materials make for very poor containers of the Flame, and only very rare metals act as semi-permeable vessels. Runes may also be carved into the items, to help extend the duration of the enchantment or to enhance the effect. Once runes are inscribed, even once the Flame has left, an infusion from a Conduit does not require a reshaping of the enchantment, and items with powerful or complex effects do not need a skilled Conduit be reused. Some items, such as the Gauntlet of Magnus, have been so masterfully crafted their enchantments have lasted for hundreds of years. These legendary items are known as Artifacts.
