Crying Woods

The Crying Woods is a land of temperate forests and swamp grounds in the eastern part of Paida. There are many rumors about the Crying Woods and is considered the most haunted and/or cursed area in Paida, and only following shortly behind the Phantom Lands and Cthaat Lake. The Crying Woods has been found to have many artifacts that have slowly been swallowed by the woods and marsh around it.

Geography

The Crying Woods is a temperate forest that slowly becomes more of a swamp the closer to the coast it becomes. The forest quickly becomes dense and the tree covering makes it a very disorientating location. It is said that it is hard to tell between day and night within the forest due to the dense tree cover.

Localized Phenomena

The Swamps of the Crying Woods tend to have hallucinating effects. It is believed this comes from the gasses that the swamp releases. Travelers tend to see things moving where there is nothing and may hear the sounds of loved ones coming from the woods after an extended amount of time. Along with illusions and hallucinations, the gasses are flammable and sometimes even catch fire without much reason or warning. Often they just appear as small orbs of flame floating above the swamp but can be more dangerous as well.
