As benevolent as the name sound, Beast Harnesses are a torturous device that have been outlawed by all countries. This decision was only partially made due to the foul nature of the device, because unfortunately too many do not see the problem with tormenting a Beast. Fortunately the
Wayfarer Guild managed to convince the rest of the countries by pointing out how it created incredibly instable vicious Beasts.
As our opinion on the device is far stronger than just considering it dangerous, the Guild will always take effort to burn any found documentation on the device and destroy any discovered devices. Even our own documents have been redacted so that we do not provide enough detail for anyone wanting to reproduce them. In the rare cases that someone was discovered reproducing it, it is in the Guild's good fortune that these individuals met their demise due to failure or a random
Drifter's fit of rage.
Functionality
The Beast Harnesses were constructed over four decades ago as an escalation of attempts to tame Beasts. The monarch that ordered their creation did so because they had lost hope the Beasts could be properly trained to obey. Instead they felt the need to restrict the creatures in a way that they could be horribly tortured whenever they refused to listen. That way, their constant fear would force them to obey.
The harness had many spikes on its inside, as well as constricting parts. A tranquilised Beast was equipped with it before it was tightened. Doing so would drive the spikes into the Beast, causing it constant stabbing pain. If the creature tried to run away, the leash would cause the harness to tighten, causing the beast great harm. The harness was also constructed in such a way that approaching the leash would also cause it to tighten.
Dozens of sets were created and adjusted to fit various Beasts. Eventually the constraints failed and hundreds of people were killed by a frenzied Beast, including the monarch. The Wayfarer Guild already had been trying to convince the monarch to cease their actions, so used the tragic events to convince all other countries to outlaw the harnesses and any comparable devices.
