Ellisar League
The verdant Wildering Coast is dotted with flourishing port cities, hidden coves, and a wealth of natural resources. Merchant ships from across the seas rest in these cities, while powerful forces seek to capitalize on the gold that flows from their gates.
The Ellisar League is a coalition of these cities, dedicated to protecting their trade interests and fending off outside threats. For many years, the cities of the Wildering Coast were independent states, each with their own laws, culture, and trade regulations. In the mid-twentieth century, in the aftermath of the sacking of Fairestorme at the hands of the Pale Duke and in the growing tensions between the graetoer powers of Vraxora, the cities of the WIldering COast formed an alliance to protect their prosperity and safety.
Many of the city's states had been ruled by merchant guilds, the only ones that could purchase influence and swords. The most powerful of these guilds was Ellisar Shipping Guild. A merger of power, and the Ellisar League was born.
The power of commerce drives the league more than any magic or military might. Gold is more precious than any vow to the merchant kings of the WIldering Coast. The decadence in the greatest cities of Ellisar is matched by none, but beneath the surface one does not have to look long to find the consequences of such unfettered greed.
Squalor and poverty plague those unfortunately born. Many youth are mesmerized with tales of riches to be had on the seas and are conscripted to dangerous, ill advised voyages. All the while, the merchant kings feast in seaside manors, far from the consequences paid by those who earned their gold.
