General Summary
The party dealt with two assholes who like to kick their feet up on Az's desk, though they presumably felt a little bad for their secretary.
Official Business
While members of the Society of the Unbroken Spirit (ÓLË) tend to the wounded and dead after the purple worm attack, their leader tells the party they should return to Tana's place of business to meet with their captain. When they arrive, Five-More-Silvers Joe explains that this captain, Melmacil Juthar, entered with enough weapons that he didn't dare to question the official papers he carried, but that he was upstairs alone. The party's conversation with him confirmed Alivul's suspicion that Cirithas is also interested in their involvement with the Phoenix Incident and led them to suspect that the ÓLË had something to do with the worm attack.The Black Book
After Melmacil left, the party was able to find Az Boldfinger in the secret basement below the building. Seeing him triggered a flashback for Tana, who recalled a night where she and Az brought the black book to a contact of his in the Spellbinder's Guild. After Az's clumsy attempt to flirt, the librarian tells them that this isn't a regular book, but an artifact from before The Cataclysm. When the lines are traced and the incantations on the page are read, the book produces highly detailed illusory images. However, this particular book is so tightly packed with lines that no normal person's fingers could activate it.Will The Real Az Please Stand Up?
After the memory ends, Az explains that he has been imprisoned in the secret basement of the building since the attack by an offshoot of the Tacaran Independence protestors. He said that a grey-skinned elf named Evylai would visit him occasionally to ask him questions and maintain Tana’s correspondences with her spies and with Pemma Harrody. Az went upstairs to rest while the party considered their next move.Back North
Tikvah made a visit to Nim, who seemed no worse for wear after the fight with the worm, to borrow a scrying focus. He looked in on Glirroth's whereabouts and learned that he was in the royal palace in Daer Ethir.
