Phenotypical Diversity

In Vrashyn, Humans, Elves, Gnomes, Halflings, Half-Elves, Orcs, and Half-Orcs display all the builds, hair colors, skin tones, and facial structures that are present in our world. However, those who are native to the same land tend share the same skin tone and facial structure traits.

Exceptions to the Rule

Again as in reality, genetic variance and recent emigration are the most likely reasons that a character may possess different physical traits than those around them. However, Vrashyn's history was significantly affected by The Cataclysm, which is believed to have kicked off a wave of migrations that led to the movement and fusion of many communities. Scholars are divided about whether societies from before The Cataclysm also lived in communities of mixed-ancestry or if ancestries were more divided in the ancient past. Regardless of the answer, the result is some communities that have lived in an area for millennia despite looking significantly different than those around them. One example is the Tacaran Wood Elves of Northeast Laivra, who have brown skin and black hair while most of their High Elf neighbors have olive skin and blonde hair.
