Realms of Vorad in Vorad

A land of Dragons and Empires

The two main landmasses of Voldia are Druzophia in the north, and the Vorad Peninsula in the south. These lands have served as the centre of some of the most powerful civilizations in the entire world, and often nations in Vorad have gone on to affect affairs across the known world.   Druzohpia is known as the land of Dragons, for in the years following the Mythic Wars, a scattered few Dracodian civilizations would survive clinging to the Lysean peninsula. From here Dragons and Dracodian civilization would rapidly spread across Voldia, clinging on around the Salacian Sea. Early Voldian civilization was all Dracodian, and it was they who laid the groundwork for all the civilizations to come, creating an intricate network of roads trade routes around the Salacian Sea. The Dracodian nations ruled much of the land for thousands of years, until they would eventually fall into decline following the Beast March, before being dealt the death blow by Almeritha. But their legacy is still felt today, many modern cites stand atop old Dracodian settlements, and their roads are still used by thousands of travellers every single day.   Voldia is the Southern peninsula of Vorad, a harsher, drier climate, civilization did not come to Voldia as easily as it did to Druzophia. Most of Voldia's history has seen is a battleground between the powerful nations of Druzophia in the north, and the mighty empires of the Avoran highlands to the south. Recent history however has seen the rise of the mightiest empire in history from Vorad, and under the Almerithan Empire Vorad grew to eclipse Druzophia as wealth flowed into the peninsula from across the world. While the decline of Almeritha and the following Tide Wars has impacted devastated Vorad, the recent resurgence of Almeritha has seen a following resurgence in the prosperity of the peninsula.

The Salacian Sea

Once part of the Voldian landmass, the place that is now the Salacian Sea was said to have been sunk during the titanic clash of the leviathan Bor'Salac and the dragon Vor'hal, for whom both the Sea and Land now take their names. Since the Beast March the Salacian Sea has been the home of the mysterious Mer'folk, who have since frequently impacted the affairs of the lands in varying ways. Most famously in the Tide Wars, a Mer invasion of Vorad. However the sea is harsh to those trying to make permanent settlement, and for most of their history the Merfolk of the Salacian Sea have been scattered tribes and clans. Recently the rise of the Black Reef council has seen most of the Salacian Sea brought under the authority of a single body, and the rest of Voldia still watches this new power with unease as to what it will do.

Invaders Abound

A land of fertile fields and mineral wealth, Voldia has a long history of foreign invaders seeking the land. But for the people of Voldia, there are two regions in particular which they fear.   To the North lies the frozen lands of Kirskow, a place of random weather patterns and savage wildlife, it is a harsh land which breeds warriors and survivors. Thanks to irregular cycles of (relative) warmth and prosperity, followed by periods of extreme cold and scarcity, the population of these lands is in constant flux. During the times of warmth, its people will fight mostly among each other for whatever land there is in the north, while occasionally raiding the south, but when scarcity comes, thousands of starving warriors will look to the warmer lands of the south with the savage fury of those driven by desperation. Though the Kusakrad forms an effective natural barrier between the two lands, it is not impregnable and several invasions have crossed the mountains over the years.   More feared than even the Kirskow however is the mysterious Everforest, sitting just across the Avathroa range. A place of ancient magic and strange creatures, the Everforest was the original home of the Beastfolk before they emerged nearly two thousand years ago. In ancient times this forest was a haven for creatures fleeing the wrath of the Dragons, and today almost all of its inhabitants cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Though there has not been a large scale invasion from the Everforest since the Beastmarch, it still remains the home of many strange (and often terrifying) Beastfolk and Mythic Beasts, and remains a source of dread for the people of Voldia to this day.
