Legends of the Seelie Court

Long ago before the Great Storms it has been told that the Dreadwood had another name long since forgotten. During these times it was a wonderous place inhabited by all sorts of Fey Creatures and Beings. Wildlife and Fauna where in such abundance as many flocked to the woods for its resources and abundance and ease to make a livelihood. The woods where ruled by Several Fey lords and ladies often referred to in tales and the occasional text as the Seelie Court These members of the court had no real set homes here in the woods but where actually seasonal travelers some claim having strong magical powers and ties to the land itself. Some tales tell that they mastered several magical portals in the woods and other regions of Voltera. As time went on many of Voltera learned of the good fortunes of these woods and the frequenting of members of the Seelie Court the population in the region grew and not only Fey creatures but Humans, Elves, Gnomes and Druidic priests established several settlements, two temples and even a palace castle in honor of the Seelie Court as bountiful harvests and blessings and good tidings seemed to only flourish with visitations by members of the Seelie Court. So impressed by the inhabitants of the woods soon a brother and two sisters of the Seelie Court made the woods a seemingly more permanent home The two temples where erected in the honor of the two sisters and the palace in honor of the brother. The Inhabitants of the woods worshiped them like living gods as they much seemed to be in many ways possessing powers of magic and even some influence over the woods themselves for literally hundreds of years the woods where harmonious and its inhabitants content and prospering.   The Sisters Names where:
Selune Known as the Goddess of Springs Bounties and Queen of Daily Regiment and Prosperity.
Selene Known as Goddess of the Winter and Falls Hearth and Queen of Nights Passions, Desire and Whim.
The Brother:   Talaris Known as the God of Summer and King Summer fury, Champion of Games and Lord of the Hunt.
The Three Ruled the woods jointly as the inhabitants of the woods thrived so did the woods but an Fey Outcasts known as Unseelie Conspired to break the bonds that seemed to grow between Sisters Selune and Selene, Talaris and the People. As travelling members of the Seelie court became more frequent to the region seasonal hunts became popular and even a tournament to honor the three siblings became popular.   It was during one of these tournaments a skilled Fey Archer by the name of Valgren came to fall in love with Lady Selune and he won many competitions at these tournaments and the two became engaged two wed. Valgren also had the Eye of an Unseelie Lady known as Nightshade who also loved Valgren and learning of the intended wedding conspired to break up the two lovers and woo Valgren back to her arms.   It is said that Nightshade made pacts with some of the dukes of the Nine Hells to obtain powers to break up the two lovers and ultimately unseat the three siblings and their influence over what is now the Dreadwood. Many believe the dark devilish magic's Twisted Nightshade so greatly that she has become known as the hag Granny Nightshade. In her quest for powers Nightshade opened up portals or passages deep in the caverns below the Dreadwood and with the assistance of Vampires with Unfead forces, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Orcs and Trolls she waged war efforts that eventually seized control of the Dreadwood.   Battles ensued over the Dreadwood as Nightshade managed to somehow actually sap the energies of the ancient woods with some sort of demonic or devilish aid later come to be known as Spirit Vines. With this her powers grew stronger and her forces dominated battles within the Dreadwood.   In a great battle Nightshades evil forces surrounded the Temple of the Two Sisters as Selune and Selene Fought Valiantly with many Elven and Druid Priests but where starting to get over run. As Selune Held the inner grounds of the temple Selene sent word to call for her Brother and Valgen sending word via Woodland Owls.   Valgren and some rangers attempted to reach the Temple but was stuck dealing with more evil forces trying to cross the Old Fey Bridge and overttake the Village of hunters Glen. Valgren and the Rangers fought against hundreds of Skelettons and Zombies and Goblins trying to Cross tthe Bridge.   Talris the Brother of the sisters found Forces Marching upon his castle and was forced to defend it he could not leave the Castle to Fall as it had one of the Key Portals to other Fey lands and some of its magics held secrets to the three siblings power and influence over tthese lands.   Back at the Temple during the Final Struggles of the Sisters Nightshade Cast a dark spell that Imprisoned Selune within a large Crystal. The Dark Magical blast from the crystal knocked Selene into a smaller chamber as she saw her sister Selune for the last time telling her to run as she waved her staff one last time and opened a portal for Selene to escape. Selune Now entrapped within this crystal was pulled deep underground by Dark Spirit Vines deep under the Temple Grounds.   At the Old Fey Bridge it is said Valgren felt the energy of his love Selune Sap away from his heart. Feeling he lost his love he grew angry as he made a stand at the old fey bridge. For 2 two days he fought back the onslaught of undead creatures and goblins as his Rangers Ranks Dwindled. Valgren was fell in the Moonlight of the second evenings Onslaught by a Black Crystal Arrow that pierced his heart from a dark hooded archer that is believed to be a vampire. Just as a bombnardment of rocks hurled by trolls crumbled a good portion of the Old Fey Bridge.   Talaris Held the Fort for 5 days past Valgens Fall before the Forces of undead, goblins, Orcs and Trolls became too many as the Walls breached. Taleris was forced to Open a portal to far off Fey lands as did Selene the Dark Powers of Nightshade dominated the woods and defaced all the Monuments and Structures dedicated to the Three as spirit vines began to swallow up much of tthe Woods.   Nightshade felt cheated at the fall of Valgren whom she wanted to love her and in a fitt of rage cast a curse upon his grave after the remaining Fey creattures and residents of Hunters Glen gave a cerimonial Burial of Honor.   It is said that Valgren's true sirit is still guarding the Old Fey Bridge. The Powerful magics of his love and not completing his honor to his love binds him there. Yet still tthe spirit and his magics to prevent most of Nightshade's undead Forces from Crosssing the River. On nights when the Moon is High and its light is strong you can see Valgren's spirit shooting arrows and long forgotten enemies.
The People of Hunters Glen now Stay away from the rivendark Crypts and Never use them as Dark Magics have overcome it. They seldom Venture across Dreadwood River as many of Hunters Glen slowly forget the Tales of their ancestors and the better times this Forest has had.   Some Believe the Seelie could one day return along witth Valgren and Selene as they hear of of certain humans of gifted skill become Fey Touched. they hope that the Fey touched will help in bringing back the lightt tthat ws the Seelie court but for many this is just an old Fable or wives tale.
