Circle of Mar

The Hero Mar

Once a half-elf druid who stopped the Forgotten Powers from ending the world in the Fourth Age. He was once a guardian of the Sacred Birch Grove of Dør. His temple is in New Dør. Mar is almost always seen accompanied by his wolf (Wolfie), bear (Misha), and moose (Endelig). When he isn't riding Endelig, he travels by way of Tree Stride. His symbol is the sun over a cloud above a birch tree.

Circle Structure

The Circle of Mar is considered a heresy by the adherents of the Old Religion and considered a reformation by Marites themselves. Marite druids typically refer to him as "The Archdruid", a term which The Great Grove sees as heretical, provocative, and rude.  

Main Tenets

  1. Protect Voktegård.
  2. Defy the Celestials.
 

Sins

  • Harming nature unnecessarily.
  • Revering the Celestials.
Many followers of Mar are Druids, but some also take levels in Cleric or only levels in Cleric. A fair few rangers and a smattering of bards follow Mar as well (though most bards follow Astrid). A common goodbye is "May the Light of Sowil always shine upon you" or other variations of this, sometimes even just "Sowil shine upon you" (which in Druidic is shil Sowil ort).  

Holidays

Mar's followers celebrate Vintersowilstede and Sommersowilstede, the communal winter and summer solstice celebrations of Sowil's light.  
Sowil is as powerful a star as any other in the sky.
