Voglagon is a diverse and expansive region, known for its varied landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant magical history. The region is geographically divided by the imposing
Attlesano Mountains, which run from the northern to the southern edges, effectively splitting Voglagon into two distinct halves. These mountains are home to numerous ancient caves and tunnels, including the famous
Nedghdim's Pass, which facilitates trade and travel between the eastern and western parts of Voglagon.
Western Voglagon: Characterized by rolling plains, dense forests, and bustling cities, the eastern side is the more densely populated half. The capital cities of
Achnasheen and
King's Landing are located here, serving the
Wood Elves of
Aynegroth and
Humans of the
Zarith Dynasty, the two major political factions of the region. The
Cresterel River, forms the border between the two regions and also provides a crucial waterway for trade and transportation. Far to the northwest is the mysterious and unwelcoming
Dwarven Tribe known as
Aetharn who rarely allow outsiders into their lands. To the southwest, across the sea lies the
Isle of Skeletons an Island shrouded in death and mystery.
Eastern Voglagon: In contrast, the eastern side of Voglagon is known for its rugged terrain, with expansive deserts, rugged cliffs, and scattered settlements. This area is rich in mineral resources and ancient ruins, attracting adventurers and archaeologists alike. Overseen almost exlusively by the
Cerulian Council from atop the
The Floating City of Cerulis it is home to a diverse mix of races. Far to the east on a small island is the
High Elves of the
Crisea Empire who disregard the rest of Voglagon whenever possible. Lastly, located to the southeast of Voglagon is
The Unknown Lands, an extremely dangerous stretch of land the seperates Voglagon from the lands to the south.
History and Culture
Voglagon has a deep and complex history shaped by numerous significant events, most notably the Cataclysm. This catastrophic event, shrouded in mystery, resulted in the loss of much of the ancient knowledge and the destruction of many powerful artifacts. The few surviving manuscripts from before the Cataclysm are zealously guarded and studied by scholars and powerful magic users.
Pre-Cataclysm Era: This period is known for its advanced magical societies and sprawling cities. It was a time of great prosperity and innovation until the Cataclysm brought widespread devastation.
Post-Cataclysm Era: Following the Cataclysm, Voglagon experienced a period of rebuilding and rediscovery. This era saw the rise of new civilizations and the gradual return of magical knowledge, albeit in a more fragmented and cautious manner.
Age of Exploration: A period marked by extensive exploration and mapping of the region, driven by the need to rediscover lost knowledge and resources. Figures like
Captain Elara Windrider played crucial roles during this time, uncovering vital passages and forgotten ruins.
Renaissance of Magic: Was an era in which Voglagon witnessed a resurgence in magical innovation and practice. The establishment of institutions like the
Arcanum Collegium in
Blackridgepool has been pivotal in this revival, fostering new generations of mages and scholars.
The Golden Age: A span of time encompassing nearly half a millennia in which the people and societies of Voglagon grew and propered with the knowledge and inovations rediscovered since the Cataclysm.
The Troubles: The current era, as food, resources and unclaimed land became more and more rare the peoples of Voglagon began to realize that the Golden Age was coming to an end. Then with the sudden creation of
The Great Expanse, which has been steadily growing since it's creation, tensions among the powerful organizations within Voglagon only grew and now seem to be at a boiling point with the West of the continent at the brink of war and starvation and poverty on the rise in the East.
