Overview

Horses are one of the primary resources and family animal of the Pra'Daylwata. This family of ranchers and horse breeders make the most of the vast expanse of the Stryt Region – a cold, scrub desert in the middle of the Sakilitian Empire. There isn’t a lot of civilization that stretches into the desert nor are there many roads. This makes Pra’Daylwata and the residents of the region more reliant on the horses than they are of anything modern. Vehicles are laughable and trains are few and far between.

Generic Information

Origin

Horses are native to the Sakilitian continent and have long been used by the vnou there, bred as beasts of burden. The vnou of the region have constructed their way of life using horses as the primary mode of transport outside of long distances, which is done by railway.

Geographic Distribution

Though horses are native to the Sakila continent, they can now be found in the Gelemian Empire, Kingdom of Knaia, and the Kalinilym Union. These places have large biomes of grassland or savannah that make it ideal for the animals.

Discovered By

Pra’Daylwata claims the discovery of the present day horse and, according to records, they are – though they do source the origin to their family before the Reconstruction. Since vnou don’t really site many things before that time period, they’re simply given credit.

Genetics & Reproduction

Though Pra’Daylwata and the Stryt region might be so remote, the family is still plagued with the bureaucratic bent many vnou are and in this horse breeds and any entering the sphere of breeding must be registered. This has resulted in a monopoly on horses and their breeds, making it nigh criminal to breed outside of regulated Daylwata stables. Like many other things associated with nobility, the law enforcement of these regulations is not associated with the family name.

Ecology & Habitat

There are large portions of the planet that are vast swaths of savannah, grassland, or cold desert. This land is still claimed and used in various ways but it was these particular biomes that support the horse populations herded by Daylwata. This comes from the older times of horses being the primary mode of transportation – and they still are in various regions of the world where vehicles aren’t practical.

Horses roam in very large social groups – herds – and have little in the way of natural predators in the areas they live. Most populations are artificially managed and while not all horses are exactly tame, it could be argued that there aren’t any wild horses left either.

They're still kinda taking shape. The more that I write about them, the less... wholesome... But I'm beginning to suspect that none of the families really are <<
