Vithrin

Year 1883 of the Eighth Age

Created by

In the ancient world of Enthea, on the continent of Vithrin, the whispers of history have long been silenced by the relentless march of time. Here, amidst the fading echoes of forgotten tales, you find yourself standing on the threshold of a realm that teeters on the precipice of war. Long ago, it was said that gods walked among the mortals, shaping the lands and breathing life into the beings that inhabit them. Yet, as the eons passed, the reverence for these deities waned, and their presence in the hearts of the people grew faint. The world of Enthea has become a place where the divine is but a whisper of a distant memory, and the tales of gods and mythical creatures are dismissed as mere fairy tales.   Among the many inhabitants of Vithrin, you will find Gnomes and Halflings, known for their ingenuity and craftiness, they have forged their homes in the numerous Elven and Human settlements, their talents as academics and merchants celebrated by their hosts.   Dwarves, proud and industrious, rule over mighty kingdoms, with Badur, the eldest among them, guarding a strategic chokepoint that controls the passage between north and south, amassing wealth and power beyond measure.   The Lizardfolk, once a thriving race, have retreated into isolation as conflict and strife pushed them further from the realm of civilization, their presence seldom felt except within cities of Tova Naa.   Elves and Humans lay claim to the heart of Vithrin, with Elves dwelling primarily in the South, and Humans holding sway in the North. But the scars of the War of Severance, a conflict spanning over three centuries ago, still fester. Human settlements in the South have burgeoned, leading to renewed tensions, and the recent Elven attack at the Northern Nations Summit, held in Tova Naa, claimed the lives of the Arrucian prince and Tovan sultan, further stoking the flames of discord.   Vithrin now teeters on the precipice of war, its fragile peace unraveling with each passing day. Adding to the mounting tension is the resurgence of magic, an arcane force whose return was the central topic of discussion at the fateful summit and the very power responsible for the tragic demise of the prince and Sultan. The Arrucian king, embroiled in grief and thirsting for vengeance, calls for the complete eradication of magic and has begun amassing his armies, poised to wage war on any nation associated with the enigmatic group known as "The Severed".   But the resurgence of magic also sparks a race to uncover its secrets and unravel the mystery of its return. Legends speak of a cycle, a cycle that brings magic to the forefront before it recedes into obscurity. Will you embrace the resurgence of magic, harnessing its power for good or ill, and shape the fate of Vithrin? Or will you heed the call to arms and march to war, seeking vengeance and risking further chaos?
