Bink's hideen village, Ashurbanipal, is made up of gnomes that seek various forms of knowledge and to put it all into one place. Bink's family in particular, the Livys, comes from a long line of historians and archaeologist. They leave their home on a journey to discover ancient ruins and records long forgotten. Once they feel like have enough knowledge the return home to put it into their vast library. The gnomes that stay back in the village are mostly the elderly and parent stayign to raise their kids.The first twenty thirty years of their lives they spend picking and learning their family's craft. The next twenty years they spend learning how to operate outside the village and survive.
After Bink's parent died he returned to the village to bring his parent's ashes back and their records during their time of exploration. After a mourning period, feeling confident he left Ashurbanipal to explore the world more. After 10 years of traveling he recieved a letter to go to an estate.
