Principle of Shields

The Principle of Shields is a treaty signed between the Senfid Aidarii and the nations of Solnater in 1300.
According to the Principle, all hostilities towards the Senfid or one of the nations that adhers to Ben Aidarii by a non-adherent faction is considered hostility towards all of them. The Principle also further compels the Senfid and other Ben Aidarii adherent peoples to come to the aid of an adherent nation should it be attacked by forces of no or different faith.
Hostilities initiated by the Senfid or a nation of its faith, however, are a different matter. Wars resulting from them attacking first are considered the belligerent's own responsibility.
The Principle was signed in part as a protective measure in the aftermath of the War of Differing Lights and in part out of a worry shared by the nations of Solnater about the Qasquamata and their increasingly aggressive encroachments on Tagizdam territory in the region that would become known as Qarjazlim.
