Welcome to the Town of Caster. An unusual collection of creatures and objects lost across time and space. All mixed together to create a settlement that is full of life and character in a realm where there is very little. Located in… well actually no one knows the location of the town. In fact, no one even knows which realm it is located in. But the Realm Rangers speculated a place called the Forgotten Realm. A place where things go when they become lost or forgotten from the mortal planes. Wherever this realm may be, the town can be found there.
Construction:
As mentioned above, the town is a hodgepodge of buildings. A jumble of materials stacked unevenly on top of one another. From the ruined marble palaces of underwater civilizations to shacks composed of corrugated metal sheeting and industrial cardboard. All to house sentient beings from the dangers of the Forgotten Realm. Things such as the Sane Marbles, the Fogs of Memory and the occasional wandering soul with a very sharp and pointy stick.
The town itself erected some time in the past, when the one known as Caster conjured a magical barrier to protect himself and his companions from dangerous beasts. From inside the protective walls, Caster began lifting from the ground, houses buried under earth and stone. Dragging rooftops in the vast landscape for shelter and teleporting monoliths brick by brick into the safety of the barrier. Overtime, the town grew bigger and bigger. Becoming a beacon of peace in the lands of disorder. Expanding with each new resident, with architecture to build and mouths to feed.
Sites and Sounds:
Walking through the town is like a breath of fresh air. Full of inspiration and creativity all around. With unique shrines and oddly shaped staircases on every corner you turn. But some of the most stand out areas come in the form of:
The Observatory: A wonky watchtower made from giant sand stone cubes haphazardly stacked. With an enormous oxidising copper telescope to help gaze at the shifting constellations on a night.
The Oblivion Board: A sombre monument imbued with magic. Upon looking at it, all you will find is a simple notice board with various photos, drawings and images of townsfolk who have fallen victim to Oblivion.
Palace of the Sprite King: A half ruined floating castle made of twisting tree trunks and dry leaf canopies, home to the delusional Sprite King. Who appeared in the middle of the town overnight, along with his palace. The king suspects the other half is outside the walls of the town, hidden inside the Forgotten Realm.
Townsfolk:
Now, a town is not complete without inhabitants and the Town of Caster is no exception. So, here is just a short list of characters you may come across if you ever find yourself in town.
Apollo: The residential ghost girl of a fairy. Shy and reserved in nature, often keeping to herself and wonders the town saying very few words.
Big Bow A psychic dog, probably an Australian Shepard, that wears a big brown bow on its collars. Making him look like a very good boy.
Gargor: A disowned orc that towers over several members of the town. With a strong resentment to wearing clothes.
Rodger Rabbit: A child’s toy with stretchy arms and covered in blue plastic fur. Brought to life by some form of magic that it cannot remember.
Sheriff Gold: The humble human, greying at the temples who patrols the town in a cowboy suit. Sorting out the needs of the town and commanding the defensives.
Sprite King: The delusional ruler of the town. A shapeshifting creature from the realm of Fairies, often strutting around in long red robes and a polished golden crown. Despite the lack of brains, he is rather friendly.
