Talagor, the mythical city of Necromancers. Said to be built in the ancient times as a safe haven for the followers of Neroc, when Acuran's would stop the way of dark magic at all costs. They needed a place to hide, to learn the ways of Neroc in peace and to have a new hub for all manners of the dark arts.
"Mmm, I bet you wanna know what Talagor is... Well if you sorcerer's can have cities for protection, why can't we? Hmm. Shame it didn't end working out, would have been a nice."— Rattic, Black Market Merchant
The Story:
The city was said to be built around an unnatural rift, similar to a
waystone but with a physical tear visible to the naked eye. The air surrounding it was cold, filled with a sensation of impending doom. It was perfect for the followers of Neroc. So they built Talagor, a city hidden in the mountainous region of
Cytal. But how would they keep it hidden from trespassers? Well, a secret path scattered all across Cytal leads the way. But only to those with corrupted magic coursing through their veins. For a time, it was a success, the dark city Talagor existed for a hundred years. But as is too often, necromancers became their own downfall.
The city became divided, too many wanting control of the city. Factions and cults emerged calling others wrong or liars in the way they pay respect to
Neroc the Dark Acuran and use his teachings. This led to a civil war, bringing the city collapsing in on itself. With so much dark energy, the aftermath left nothing but bodies and rubble of a great beacon of evil.
Reality:
To many necromancers, they know the story of Talagor, stretching the truth and adding their own spin on the story. But the story has been iterated many generations, and what was once truth has become nothing but a myth and a warning among dark magic users when they think something a bad idea. Terms such as "You'll face the ruins of Talagor if you continue" and "It'll end up like Talagor" have become common phrases among necromancers. The term and story of Talagor became popular in the dark community during the dark times, when activity of evil and corruption was at its highest.
While many suspect there was a place named Talagor, in the present many believe it just a story to be told around evening fires. All that remains of Talagor is its reputation and the scattered variety of maps, compass and artefacts with the symbol of Talagor. Some, such as the archaeology group Paramound, believe the secret path still exists. But at this moment in time it is only speculation.
